The 2019 College Football Thread ! LSU NATIONAL CHAMPIONS ! CLEMSON SUCKS !!!!!!!!!!!

wow, never looked up brown's college stats before and you're right. Never rushed for a thousand yards in a season, 19 rushing td's his entire career. Good YPC , but not spectacular. interesting.

Offenses were much slower then, also do not think he played in but 10 or less games a year. Lot easier to pile up stats nowadays. Further, no clock stop after first down which when implemented was supposed to add 10-15 plays to game.

I was going to rip on Biff earlier for talking about probably falling asleep before the end of this one. But now it’s 10:35pm and still halftime. I’m not going to make it.

I fell asleep briefly between the third and fourth quarter after 2.5 pints but saw most of the fourth quarter and the end of the game.

Ball game. I definitely see the positives. Not having to hear all and everything about Clemson. I got kind of tired of it. Definitely would have liked them to rep the ACC though. The problem right now is there is no one clearly behind them. It’s just a blur after them in the standings. Hopefully next year we have some teams step up (FSU, Carolina, Wake, Virginia, Tech) and get some recognition for the conference. We need some teams to win the games they are supposed to and more. This year you never knew what was going to happen, and it wasn’t because it was just good teams going at it. They were poorly coached, divided teams that had no cohesion. I think part of it is there are so many young or new coaches in the league still trying to lay the foundation. Hopefully Wake can prove they are better than their record showed this year, and come out hot again next year, but finish strong. It’ll be interesting to see if the ACC has a bounce back year.

Did you see anything that would suggest the ACC is going to have a bounce back year next year ? Who do you expect to be better than mediocre next year ?

UVA was the #2 team and they lose their starting QB who dragged them to the ACCCG.

Maybe Va Tech. Louisville has a lot of room for quick improvement.

FSU could win 9 games next year maybe.

Miami finished its season losing to FIU, Duke, and La Tech.

UNC-CH looks to have the second best QB in the league next year (even if Newman was coming back to Wake).

So Burrow spends as much time studying film as the coaches? Isn't the NCAA supposed to regulate that to emphasize the "student" in student-athlete?

He already graduated college

He can watch game film or lift weights all day long if he wants to. He's just limited by the 20-hour rule in how much he can watch with coaches or initiate film-watching with teammates as a team captain.

LOL at Texas being #25.

Are you trying to make a broader point on Clemson? They're still the favorite to win it all next year, so the fact that the ACC is shitty doesn't really matter.

It's kind of funny... Those odds I posted for next year: ACC #1 & B1G #1, then a drop-off to 4 SEC teams, then a huge drop-off to everyone else. Wonder if I could find a prop where I can get that entire SEC stable vs. the field...

Another random aside, I spent a lot of time w/ some FSU fans lately (unfortunately)... They all agreed that once Lawrence leaves, FSU will be back to the top of the ACC. I tried to argue that Clemson had a lot more going for it than just the QB, but they didn't want to listen. And as much as I hate FSU, it would certainly be more interesting if they didn't suck.

The big surprise of the game was how good LSU's defense played. Clemson's only real drives were aided by trick plays and penalties. LSU's defense played monster all game. That was a complete effort by LSU after they got field position in the first half. I'd certainly put them in the top 10 all time great college teams. Clemson was a very good team this season. But LSU was great, and head and shoulders above the rest in DEC and Jan.

White man has to go to the back with his face blocked off. Mmmmm hmmmmm ...

Just goes to show how good Dabo's got it right now. He's got a cakewalk to the ACCCG if he can somehow get past the rest of the division. Crossover games in 2020 are UVA and Ga Tech. Only tough game on their schedule is at ND on 11/7.

Those FSU fans are nuts btw. Clemson has had three straight outstanding quarterbacks and has beaten FSU the past five years. FSU still has talent and I think they can make a quick improvement, but they're not competitive with Clemson right now and won't be just because Lawrence moves on.

So Joe Burrow is going from the Bayou Bengals to the Cincinnati Bungles.

I hope they don't ruin him the way they typically do with highly drafted QBs.

WHAT A WAY TO CELEBRATE !!! OBJ hands out wads of cash on the sideline !
