The Democratic Party Left Me Behind

Venezuela has obviously become the new go-to nightmare scenario for right-wingers. Vote for evil commie LibDems, and within just a few years all of America (and Texas!) will be just like Venezuela (shudders). It goes back to the Washington Monthly article posted today in the GOP Debacle thread. Since the New Deal, right-wingers have persisted in seeing liberals, socialists, and communists as basically the same, with no distinction. It's all a part of the vast left-wing conspiracy to turn Americuh into the next USSR, Cuba, or now Venezuela.
To be honest there are a lot of countries to choose from, just pick the latest failed socialist state in the headlines and run with it. Notice the lack of success stories.

however, one wonders what a nation not in the midst of revolution and/or a history of extreme corruption at the highest levels could achieve

Have you figured out if we are socialists yet?

No. You cant just pull a bullshit outlier Rasmussin poll out of your ass because it fits your dumbass narrative. Trumps approval rating among African Americans has been around 10% or less his entire presidency and thats supported by polls that have surveyed 100k African Americans.

Excuse me..African American approval at 38%

A reprise of William Jefferson’s — really, Dick Morris — “it’s the economy,stupid!”

The countries ranked at the top of the lists for best places to live on the planet are highly socialized economies. Just because you don't know this doesn't mean there aren't success stories. Here's an example, there are plenty more. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Happiness_Report#2018_World_Happiness_Report

The problem with Venezuela is not "socialism" per se, it's tin-pot dictators who loot the economy to prop up their power base. See e.g. Turkey, a not-very-socialist country with a wannabe dictator who is currently pushing his country into a market collapse.

That's because those countries built their success and wealth through capitalism in low population non diverse states, thus are able to temporarily sustain highly socialized programs.

Plus the "happyness" metrics are skewed to favoring socialized countries.

Could you explain the last sentence?
