The OFFICIAL 2013-2014 Mother's Basement HOT STOVE Offseason Thread

i've been making that joke for a couple hours now. that team would be even better in 03 because soriano was still a really good 2b at that point.

looking at it now, and 06 may be the year. 03 sabathia and teix hadnt hit their stride yet. in 06 ellsbury and gardner were raking in a+, so theyd be good bets for defensive subs or pinch runners.

What would it take to pry Headley or the shark away from their respective teams?

supposedly cubs wanted weiters and a top 5 pitching prospect from O's for shark. O's were like LOL GTFO.

So the Yankees now have Ellsbury, Beltran, Gardner, Ichiro, Soriano, and Wells? Am I missing anyone? That group of OFs / DHs will earn a cool $86MM this season. (Though only $55MM from the Yankees. *Only*. Which means the Yankees are paying those six less than the Dodgers are paying their four OFs.)

lol

but look at these 2006 war figures:

Name WAR
Carlos Beltran 7.6
Derek Jeter 6.1
Vernon Wells 5.7
Ichiro Suzuki 5.3
Alfonso Soriano 5
Brian McCann 4.3
Alex Rodriguez 3.9
Mark Teixeira 3.2

that's 41.1 war or higher than any team in baseball last year by 5 wins. #gocashman

That is indeed a fantastic 2006 team. And Vernon Wells was a gold glove-winning CF!

his 2006 war was 3.8. cant believe the yanks let him get away.

The Mets won him over with a nice salmon lunch.

Is it. GRANDER-slam signing or do he mutts have delusions of GRANDEUR-son. Puns.

Yanks might have trouble with TB. 2006 was the year that a ray killed Steve Irwin...

Bad press coming out of Seattle now. Dysfunctional front office.

“Jack portrayed himself as a scouting/stats hybrid because that’s what he needed to get the job,” Blengino said. “But Jack never has understood one iota about statistical analysis. To this day, he evaluates hitters by homers, RBI and batting average and pitchers by wins and ERA. Statistical analysis was foreign to him. But he knew he needed it to get in the door.”

Haha, oh man, shots fired.
