the official new supreme court thread - Very political

Yeow. This is all adding up to be really, really bad.
What does that even mean?

Like that there will be consequences? Absolutely not.

That Clarence Thomas is a sketchy dude and not a very ethical or serious holder of his important office? That's not new information.

We're just another day or two away from:

"Documents show Harlan paid Clarence Thomas $3.5 million to side with his cause on a case. There are text messages, a recorded video, and another video where they both say 'yes the first video is really us'"

Conservatives would just say "well that's the way the game is played!"

While the last part is absolutely true, the first part is unlikely because old assholes don't usually know how to open a PDF on their phone let alone record video. They can make phone calls and open Pornhub, and that's about it.

Clarence Thomas might as well just have his future transactions with Harlan Crowe occur on the SCOTUS steps with him being handed a cartoon bag with a dollar sign on it. And it won't matter for shit. Literally the only thing that can happen to him is he dies before the end of next year with a still Dem Senate majority. Although who the fuck knows with Feinstein.

This is true. There is absolutely zero recourse for SCOTUS justices short of the sweet relief of death. Checks and balances at work.

yeah and then Roberts refused to testify in front of the Senate. Guess part of the ol' legacy is ignoring that whole checks and balances thing.

also, like the Second Amendment only accounting for like muskets and whatever at the time, the whole lifetime SCOTUS appointment thing is woefully out of date. worked when the average lifespan was 35 (just looked it up!). guess that's also why the Constitution says you need to be at least 35 to be POTUS. only our most wisened men.

You absolutely have to love that he disclosed “tires” as part of this somehow. Really focusing on the important stuff.

Crow’s office issued a statement in which it did not dispute that Crow paid for Martin’s education.

“Harlan Crow has long been passionate about the importance of quality education and giving back to those less fortunate, especially at-risk youth,” the statement said. “As part of his desire to perpetuate the American Dream for all, and believing education is the great equalizer, he and his wife have supported many young Americans through scholarship and other programs at a variety of schools.”

“It’s disappointing that those with partisan political interests would try to turn helping at-risk youth with tuition assistance into something nefarious or political,” the statement said.

He gets that we know who the person is that he's referring to, right??

All I know is that any education fundraiser in the country right now is working their connections to get a call with Crow. I sure as hell would be.

BREAKING: Libs owned by Thomas bought by Harlan Crow

Doesn’t seem like that worthy of an investment, is there any potential case where his ruling wasn’t going to align with the conservative billionaire?
