Totally Unofficial 2017/18 Premier League Thread (NWT)

Alexander-Arnold going to the World Cup despite not being capped by England. Feels like a CYA in case he goes to Kiev and does something special followed by a bunch of "how is this guy not in the squad?!?!" stories. Not saying he doesn't deserve it but he was better leading up to the last two friendlies that he wasn't played in.

Again, McTominay alone played 6x as many minutes as ALL MAN CITY academy players. McTOMINAY.

And you're droning on about how Foden and Diaz must be upset because Sane, Silva, etc. were the young players getting time. LOL. Foden is still 17 and Diaz is 18. They aren't supposed to play. Shit Foden is the youngest player ever to log a single minute on the field for an EPL champion.

Meanwhile you're crowing about 25 year olds being academy graduates logging huge minutes. That isn't some gravitas youth movement. And now you're crowing about how McTominay (who is almost 22) logged 600 minutes this year. Who gives a shit when McTominay is likely to be shipped out this off season, Pogba had a season long spat with the manager and is likely to be sold and Rashford openly has complained about his role at the club. You're acting as if Mourinho is actively developing these guys for the future when the truth appears to be that he wasn't satisfied with his roster and the players all know they are likely on the outs.

Clue in to the reason Man Utd had so many minutes for these players and finished 19 points off the pace is because they weren't remotely as good as Man City this past season.

My point is that the league was done and dusted in February, if not January, and mathematically over in April.

Yet, Pep STILL didn't give his youth players a chance to gain valuable Premier League minutes despite ALL THAT. That is horrible, especially considering the clear talent he has at City in their youth ranks. But Pep doesn't give a fuck about developing the clubs youth, he wanted that 100 point total. So good for him?

If Mourinho did that to a future English star like Foden the English press would have had a damn collective aneurysm.

LOL. Yeah, the English press always gives other teams a pass and never, ever, looks to stir the pot. Ever.

You're basically bitching that a 17 year old who was gone for over a month of the season prepping for and playing in FIFA U17 event didn't log enough EPL minutes. Good one. Kid played in 10 games this year and had 3 ninety minute runs with the first team - 2 in the UCL and one cup game.

And do go on about how Man City isn't playing young players. Sane is 22, B. Silva is 23, Jesus is 21, Laporte is 23, Sterling is 23, Mendy is 23, Zinchenko is 23 and Stones is 23. And you're puffing out your chest about minutes played by Pogba (25), Lingard (25), McTominay (21) and Rashford (20) as "academy" graduates.

Fulham-Villa playoff final. Feels like 2006.

Will BTB or numberz get to revive their ded fanhood? FINDOUTNEXTSATURDAY!!!

I've never stopped pulling for Fulham. They're everybody's second favorite team!

Southgate is committed to playing Walker on the right of his back 3 so he needs cover at right wing back if Trippier is hurt or out on cards. So the question is, what other English right back is in better form than TAA? No one that I can think of.

Official World Cup Thread? Any chance we put together another boards fantasy challenge for it?

kill shot. How the mighty have fallen. This is eerily reminiscent to what Arsenal fans had to resort to after the 8-2 disaster. Damn embarrassing

Big Sam Out
Brands IN at our new DOF (PSV guy)
And a new young "attacking" manager on the way (Fonseca, Silva or Howe most likely)

EXCITING TIMES AT THE EV. Way more exciting than the actual matches.

Apparently Cameron Carter-Vickers signed a new deal with Spurs.

Dumb. Dude needs to get out of there to advance his career. He's not the new shiny play toy, so he won't be given a chance to settle in by Levy and Co. 100% they buy another Young CB this summer to play over him.

He just played 3,000 minutes in the Championship as a 20 year old. He's doing just fine.
