Seven years after he should released them on his own.
 
From reading it sounds mainly like the IRS found so many things that could potentially be wrong that they didn't have enough staff to audit it properly and threw their hands up.

good grief...not a good strategy
 
Cynically, Trump's accountants likely did a masterful job of structuring things to make it all but impossible for anyone to reasonably audit the whole thing. The amount of resources required to do so must be outrageous.

In a crazy coincidence, republicans are panicking over hiring IRS agents and want to defend the IRS.
 
Some good memes out there relating to the pentagon not being able to account for $2.2 trillion dollars but now if ya get $601 on paypal you're getting a tax form for that.
 
We all paid more taxes than Donald Trump in 3 of those 6 years.

They probably didn’t want to be the next Lois Lerner who was skewered by the media for making sure political groups against paying taxes weren’t fraudulently filing for tax exemption.
 
the problem is these things have drawn out so damn long that all these investigations have lost their zing. Needed to strike when the iron was hot after Jan 6
