Updates to the Joel?

The BOT needs to send a strong and clear message (preferably using Brad Wesley's goons) that the university isn't fucking around

Can we please put Forbes in that monster truck?

more likely he got a bacon cheeseburger rather than a BJ.

It's alright. Been years since I was there so can't speak to updates. Probably a bit bigger than the Joel.

Carver-Hawkeye Arena seats 15,500. Could be one reason Forbes seems to like larger arenas.

I actually thought Wake owned the Parkway Ford property as well but I can’t find any information to back that up

At some point, some bright economist should do the calculations that optimize the seating capacity and ticket pricing schemes for Wake Forest basketball. Selling out every game probably does not maximize revenue.

Somewhere there have to be models for this. If not, the Business school people have fertile ground for research.

2000 seats sold at $30 per ticket for 10 games is $600,000 in revenue. Not chump change.

Pretty sure that is chump change in big time athletics.

If your sole focus is on maximizing ticket revenue then you build a massive facility, schedule as many local and national fan base teams as possible, and market to fill it up with rival fans. But the goal of building a new facility shouldn't be to maximize ticket revenue.

Very true. But one of the goals should be maximizing revenue. Ticket sales are a minor footnote on revenue. To build revenue, you need the best home court advantage possible. Those schools that understand that do indeed lose millions every year potential ticket revenue. And they make many, many more millions in other revenue because they win. And their school's academics and other donations go up as well.

Everyone knows that Wellman lied about the numbers. It was a complete joke at the time.
