Wait, she didn't even show up to the debate?

There's your next United States Senator, NC.

We're about 3 months away from 485 being fully joined after about 30 years of half-assed Democrat construction. McCrory could fire every single teacher in the state and take a dump on their final paychecks and his tenure would still be a rousing success in my opinion. But I'm not voting for Tillis or Hagan.

Apparently you don't realize how often similar bids/promises were made in the past. He pledged to actually get it done this time, and is getting it done. Under Purdue it would have been delayed out another 10 years, as it repeatedly had previously.

OOOOOPS !

Completion of the final 5.7-mile stretch of the Charlotte Outer Loop will be delayed until spring, state highway officials announced Friday.

Can you show me anything where people promised to get this done a decade or more ahead of its proposed schedule?

Are you surprised this has been in long term urban planning for 40 years?

It was on a 40-year schedule? Is it a road to the moon?

ETA: here is someone else who agrees:

I-485 on fast track (stop laughing!)

Depending on your commuting habits, "fast" and I-485 don't belong in the same sentence. Those regularly stuck in rush-hour traffic on the southside and those who waited patiently while the Department of Transportation promised, re-canted then re-promised new-exit opening dates for Brookshire Boulevard, W. W.T. Harris Road, I-77 (northside) and Statesville Road know what I'm talking about: A promise regarding Interstate 485 is about as good as bank CEOs saying they'll forgo their bonuses this year.

40 years for long term urban planning? Sure. Doesn't mean it is actually scheduled to start, like this one. I have no doubt that the idea for a Greensboro loop was in long term urban planning in the early 80s.

There might have been some delays in various parts of the I-485 loop project. Funding was an issue and there could have been other reasons. Has nothing to do with fact that completion of the loop wasn't scheduled to start before 2015. Purdue pushed for financing and arranged for the project to start in 2011 and be completed by the end of 2014. It was already 50% completed when McCrory took office. To credit him for it is laughable. If you want to thank somebody for getting the loop done ahead of schedule in Raleigh, then this is who you need to thank.

Who do you think was browbeating her about it? Or do you think she came up with that all on her own?

Yes, nobody in Raleigh understood that Charlotte was growing faster than had been originally planned if not for the genius of Pat McCrory.
