Wake Forest Basketball Recruiting: Juke Harris Commits!!

Nah. Even if he’s not always a prolific scorer, his energy and rebounding helped us build the lead last night. That kid played his heart out last night and is committed to this team. You want a guy like that on the team, even if he isn’t the star you build around.

Fair point. Hope he plays better next year. Also hope a new leader emerges over the summer...

Well said, Thunderbolt. We shouldn't discount going 7-8 from the line either.

I’ve never understood why Mucious shoots such a low percentage with his nice shooting form. He has a nice stroke. In any event, he’s the last guy we want to leave.

This is really my point. If he's the best we have and is the team's supposed leader, it goes to show you just how far we have to go. Fine, assume he comes back...but if he's taking minutes from other players who could really benefit by having extra PT who can actually benefit the team long term...that's where I'd rather him just leave. Massoud, Neath and Wilkins are hopefully gone. I wouldn't shed a tear if Mucius left as well, but appreciate the fact that he might be the best option we have at the moment.

We spent the year after Tariq didn't return from Covid having our 2s, 3s and 4s playing out of position and with less depth than many other squads so yeah, we were gassed and often out of sorts. But the kids rarely didn't play hard. I expect Neath, Wilkins, Antonio, Johnson to be gone with Massoud 50/50 and Dubose moving on to get paid somewhere. Some combo of 2-3 4/5s trfr and maybe another shooter. Effort guys for 15-25 min rotations. Lots of teams will lose many of their best players while we could just lose some marginal ones.

Mucius is a glue guy on a good team. He's a leader on the court in terms of his effort and voice, and he does a lot of little things like clogging the passing lanes with his length, rebounding pretty well, and diving for loose balls. Every once in a while he gets hot and can put up 18 or 20, but on a good, well balanced team with a go to scorer, he could be a really solid effort guy, and he'd be able to avoid exhaustion at the end of games like last night.

Wake Forest Basketball Recruiting: Carter Whitt Commits! and Cam Hildreth from UK!

Black is a better color for those seats anyway.

When built, wasn't W-S more of a UNC-CH leaning town. May still be. Anyway seemed to want to specifically avoid any criticism of Wake favoritism Tho' we invested $8M in the building. IIRC & IMHO.

Winston was very much a u*NC-CH leaning city. Wake had only been in town a few decades. Short enough time for many to still think of Wake as that "little college near Raleigh."

Enough time has now passed that there are few with direct memories. And, Wake is a much, much bigger part of town now.

W-S wanted to make sure the Coliseum didn't offend by being Wake Centric. And Lawrence Joel did attend school down the road to the east.

UMASS Center Tre Mitchell has entered the portal.

6-9 240. 18 ppg 7 rpg 57% from 2 38% from 3. Exactly what WF needs, but everyone is going to be on him. He's from Pittsburgh. Notre Dame, UCONN and Arkansas offered out of HS (class of 2019); so, would expect that they will get re-involved, among many others. FWIW, if/when Mitchell leaves, this will be a devastating loss for Matt McCall. Mitchell was UMASS' best recruit maybe since the Calipari days (Mitchell was a top 100 player out of HS), and UMASS's had finally shown signs of life after struggling for years.

CREAM RISES TO THE TOP

Coaches are going to be recruiting like Suge Knight in the handshake line after every ACC game.

Need to institute some dead periods. Like all season. And maybe some additional time. Once a player commits to a school, the player owes the school and coach the whole season.

Up until very recently, basketball coaches kept hands off players once they committed and before they signed. It hadn't been at all like football. College bball coaches would get pissed if you accused them of poaching committed players (Matt Painter is one of the extremely rare exceptions).
