This last is key. On D, you just need to have dudes who can make plays. Current staff just hasn't been able to close the deal on guys. See, for instance, the linebacker who flipped to Oklahoma.

Wake has had some over the years. The 2006 defense had several. This year, the guys who might have been couldn't stay healthy.
 
Really hope we add a good bag man in the DC spot. Time to level up some ‘crootin.
 
what happened to that special teams coach we had that was hilarious on twitter?

This is fantastic. He was the conference defensive player of the year last spring, and this fall was an FCS All American.

I expect him to ball out. I'd bet he is looking to make a good showing against P5 O-linemen and get drafted. Performing at a high level vs P5 competition will improve his draft stock more than another year dominating G5 guys.
 
Agreed on Turner, great pickup. Staff is just relentless at finding the right guys.
