Hinton played as a true a frosh in 2015, and he played 3 games last year. I thought that he would need the NCAA to declare Hinton as medical hardship after his 4th year, but maybe he didn't play enough last year for it to count as a year of eligibility.

That is correct. He did not play enough (less than the first 25% of games) for last year to "count" as a year of eligibility after he was hurt and out for the rest if the season. Different rules for med red shirt and voluntary one.
 
I know info is restricted now but any guess on how injured Terry is ? Last roster update listed him down to 275 from 290-300. AIR, he's one of our Captains, yes ?
