This is why Hatch loves Manning - he recruits the kind of kid who benefits from a Wake Forest education regardless of his basketball prowess and who keeps his nose clean while he is here.

In all seriousness (I assume you are being sarcastic) - this is what I don't get when people say that Hatch really likes Manning. You would think that the perpetual roster turnover and lack of players that make it to graduation would be as embarrassing to the people on the academic side of the school, if not more embarrassing, than the putrid performance on the court.
 
I thought that Manning would extend at least 1 more 2020 offer after Wynn was suspended the second time but I guess I was right only about there being an opening once the season ended. Some will say that's because Manning had lost interest in recruiting by that point. Others might claim he was holding it for a grad transfer. Time may tell who is correct.

Hearing Wynn's spot will be replaced by some recruit named Jorry Thompson, a 24-year old G out of Chicago, IL. Says here he has a BS, MS, & PhD in... Basketball?

Not trying to defend Manning, but the two players graduating in six years is not exactly correct. Manning has coached WF for 6 years; so, he has had 3 recruiting class that have had 4 years to graduate, not 6.

HS Class of 2015:

- Konstantinos Mitiglou (left WF after 3 years in good academic standing for a lucrative professional contract in Greece)
- Corny Hudson (left WF in the middle of his sophomore year; then crashed and burned as a student elsewhere)

SJM was a complete mess, and was an idiotic recruiting decision. Mitchell and Washington were reaches to play at the ACC level, but it appears that both landed on their feet at their new schools. Over his first three recruiting classes, Manning essentially recruited two massive academic/character question marks: Corny and SJM. The rest of the group either left early to chase basketball cash (which I don't hold against the coach) graduated (4) or weren't ACC level basketball players; so, they left WF to graduate from schools where they could actually play. For the last group, these weren't academic casualties, just recruiting below the level required to play ACC hoop.

FWIW, on top of his on the court issues, Manning has not recruited well while at WF, but given the current the transfer culture and the prevailing notion to chase the cash as soon as possible, it's a little misleading to claim that 2 players have graduated in six years. For the most part, the transfers and the leaving early is just the way basketball is these days.

I don't have too much problem with what you posted, Pilch. I think that is a helpful perspective. I do think an important part of Manning's job is to bring in young men that can be successful at Wake. 2016 was a good class. Otherwise, he has performed poorly in that regard.

Thank you! I am definitely #manningout, but this narrative of the 2 students in 6 years (started by Donut Dan IIRC) is so misleading. There are enough other reasons Manning doesn't need to be around for another year that you don't need to stretch the truth.

This is even FURTHER indictment for him needing to be gone.... yesterday. He can't even run a 1-and-done factory much less a lemonade stand! And, please don't be myopic and argue over the phrase "1-and-done". You get the point. We're horrible even with people who probably never had any intention of graduating in the first place.
 
Pilchard, the argument has been the number of players who have entered Wake Forest as freshmen and have left the program prior to exhausting their eligibility. The argument was an answer to Manning's "we are so young" excuse for losing.
