WFU Hoops: '24-'25 Roster Construction Thread: (-) Carr, Monsanto, Ituka, Clark, Miller, Marsh, Keller, Canka / (+) Spillers, Biliew, Cosby

Musselman gets ants in his pants when he is in the same place for awhile, and he went to University of San Diego, and previously coached in LA in the D League. Guessing Fayetteville, Arkansas may be getting old, and living in LA would be an appealing alternative.

However, Musselman is signed through the 2028 season and is making $4+ million a year. In addition to USC matching or exceeding that salary; Musselman's contract has been exteneded multiple times, and that typically means his buyout is hefty. Also, Musselman is known for having a huge/expensive coaching staff.

USC has never spent big on basketball; lots of sources pointing to Musselman going to USC, but surprising that USC is willing to lay out the cash to make it work, unless there is a deep-pocketed USC booster that has taken a sudden interest in USC basketball.

isn't usc getting a huge revenue boost with their move to the big ten? seemed to me like a pretty good assumption that their basketball moves are directly tied to that increase in budget.

seems surprising that we would land in spillers top 4 if he had no chance of being eligible. then again, college kids.

USC and UCLA's media payout is jumping from approximately $37M to $60M with their move to the Big Ten. Oregon and Washington will get approximately $30M next year with escalating payments until they receive their full shares in 2030.

I mean, if it was straight up impossible for someone of his educational background to be eligible then I assume Forbes wouldn't have even reached out to him. So the fact that Forbes did and that he is publicly showing interest in Wake shows me that there's at least a decent chance he would be eligible.

USC has never spent a shit ton on basketball. Football is a different story.

tim floyd was spending plenty of money!

recruiting classes (and assuming these were fueled with NIL):

2023: #3 in the country with two 5*s
2022: #7 in the country with a 5*, two 4*s
2021: so so class
2020: Evan Mobley (#3 player in his class)
2019: #7 in the country with two 5*s

much different situation than UCLA

Dookie in the portal. Top 100 HS player in the class of 2022. Scored 5 points this past year; didn't play after November. He is 7-1 and from Concord, NC. Just buried at Duke. Maybe could play if he isn't too scarred from being locked in a closet for two years in CIS:
