I have to wonder how Ecaudor will perform playing in normal conditions - i.e. not at 10,000 feet above sea level. I imagine they'll have a ton of support.

The last three days have been like frivolous and joyful credit card spending. Switzerland - Ecuador is the bill.

One needs no further evidence that the FIFA rankings are flawed than to watch this game and see the Swiss are ranked 6th in the world. More like 26th would be accurate.

Are we stuck with this FIFA rankings system for the time being? How the hell is Switzerland a seed. And a Uruguay team that needed bonus qualifying to make the world cup another seed.

In any case, if it doesn't change, the U.S. could become a seeded squad next time around with a strong showing here (#13 now), but the Swiss at 6 and Netherlands at 15 is ridiculous.
