WSJ Calls on Trump to Liquidate His Holdings (Ongoing Conflict of Interest Thread)

It's quite ironic that RWers are all for rich foreigners buying citizenship but oppose citizenship or green cards for people who have been here for decades and whose only crime was entering or staying too long.

I'm not townie (thank the good Lord in Heaven), but I don't think that is irony.

Foreign Business Partners Expect to Benefit From Ties to Donald Trump

Unimark Group, a developer based in the eastern Indian city of Kolkata, after the election confirmed an unannounced deal to rebrand a previously planned residential apartment building into a Trump project. Dipanjan Ray, head of marketing at Unimark, said he couldn’t say whether the deal was done before or after Mr. Trump was elected U.S. president.

"couldn't say"

Under political pressure, Kuwait cancels major event at Four Seasons, switches to Trump’s D.C. hotel

Kuwait confirms they switched locations, but claims they were not pressured to do so:

Kuwaiti embassy is latest to book Trump D.C. hotel, but ambassador says he felt ‘no pressure’

Donald Trump's sons behind nonprofit selling access to president-elect

A new Texas nonprofit led by Donald Trump’s grown sons is offering access to the freshly-minted president during inauguration weekend — all in exchange for million-dollar donations to unnamed “conservation” charities, according to interviews and documents reviewed by the Center for Public Integrity.

And the donors’ identities may never be known.

Prospective million-dollar donors to the “Opening Day 2017” event — slated for Jan. 21, the day after inauguration, at Washington, D.C.’s Walter E. Washington Convention Center — receive a “private reception and photo opportunity for 16 guests with President Donald J. Trump,” a “multi-day hunting and/or fishing excursion for 4 guests with Donald Trump, Jr. and/or Eric Trump, and team,” as well as tickets to other events and “autographed guitars by an Opening Day 2017 performer.”

"Conservation" seems squarely at odds with Trump's #DRILLBABYDRILL agenda so far. Interesting thing to keep an eye on. I'm sure it's not the same thing as the CGI, because his supporters would be upset about that type of behavior.

The Trump family is making the unproven Clinton allegations look like a 3 Card Monte game versus fixing the World Series.

The visa classification in question is specifically for people coming into the country to invest money in a business and create jobs out of that business. They get a green card for creating a living for others, essentially. It is certainly a worthwhile visa classification whose primary problem lies in its enforcement and not its intent. It is diametrically opposite of a person who comes here and works illegally, potentially taking a job away from a citizen somebody here legally or keeping the wages down for citizens or those who are here legally.

You have a funny definition of irony.

So Trump's team delayed his press conference for a month to figure out how to deal with conflicts on interest, only to come up with "still doing everything we said we'd do before, but now donating profits from foreign governments to the Treasury!"

Still waiting on Hillary to fix all of her problems with the Clinton Foundation--such as paying for Chelsea's wedding, Doug Band & Teneo directing sinecures Bill's way with promises of more should Hillary become Prez. Tit for tat so to speak.

Clinton has nothing to do with the PEOTUS. She lost. He has responsibilities. She doesn't.

Spicer on Trump going to hotel: 'Shouldn't be a shocker'

Spicer noted that the hotel was completed under budget, comparing that to the transition effort, which he said also came in 20 percent under budget.

“It’s an absolutely stunning hotel,” Spicer said. “I encourage you to go there if you haven’t been by.”
