Just heard from a UNC-CH alum who said that Wellman is seeking advice from none other than Dean Smith on this hire. So don't be surprised if we get Larry Brown or George Karl, with a chance of Hubert Davis being THE Guy.

That was my exact comparison....and Wake does not have the pressure to attract 5* talent and play a really wide open game which I think was Howland's undoing. Bennett is what Wellman wanted Bz to be, so if Howland does the same thing then it should fit what Wellman wanted in the first place....4 years ago. I'd be thrilled with Bennett at Wake....and same with Howland.
 
How in the hell have we not hired Howland?

Yeah, I have to quit this thread. Howland is going to get picked up somewhere while Ron is still jerking around with [Redacted]. I'm guessing will be seeing Coach Turner and some combo of Chill, Rusty, Battle on our bench next year.

Radio guys specifically mentioned BC, but BH didn't discuss them specifically, made it sound like he was waiting for more openings.

No mystery there. From the SI article:

In a game during the 2007-08 season, several players on the bench noted Howland's frustration with the shot selection of Westbrook, whose freelancing had resulted in several baskets. But rather than substituting for him, Howland informed one of the officials that Westbrook was wearing socks bearing an NBA logo, which violated NCAA uniform guidelines. Howland told the official he had an obligation to remove Westbrook from the game because of his socks. The official claimed to be unaware of the rule and let play continue.

Money talks but cash screams. My only regret is that Wake, in fact, without doubt, did put feelers out to Pearls people. Money, a longer leash, and autonomy likely were too much to give up. #Moxy is a little low. We can turn this disaster around with a rebranding of sorts. A reimagining if you will. Let's reboot the horror classic and unleash #TheHowling on the opposition. #FreeBen #InstantClassicRedux
