Not your misinterpretation of it. It's a pretty simple theory. Fewer teams will be in the market for a PG than a SG/SF/PF.
That's a tough position to stand by during a summer when a PG who has never made an all-star game, an all-NBA team, and with a best team accomplishment of a conference finals sweep just signed the richest contract in NBA history.
Teams spend big money on PGs, even second-tier PGs. How will adding a position to his versatile skillset hurt his value on the open market?
The idea that he takes less money because a team won't sign him at PG is just ridiculous.
