Does Wake go bowling this year

If Army had possessed an defense, they would have beaten us by 2 or 3 tds last season. Hopefully our defense will improve and hopefully our offense will be 2x as effective (that's a stretch). Also, I believe the Army QB graduated. It should be a win; but at West Point, who knows?

You could say that for us too. If we had possessed a defense then we would have beaten them by 5 touchdowns.

We got absolutely hammered in Raleigh last year. I realize the game is in WS this year but I just don't see us being that much improved to where we beat State.

Unless NCSU's new coach is a miracle worker (he may be), NCSU is gonna suck the cow teet this year.

That same thing happened two years ago.

Carolina stomped us 2 years ago too. State hasn't won at Wake in a really long time. We should definitely win that one.

True; except that it proved how difficult the option is to defend, especially when the opposition has but a week to prepare. It was at this game that I became convinced that we should return to some form of option and misdirection scheme. Some say it's boring as compared to the spread; but if I had been an Army fan, I would not have thought it boring to see the offense pick up 6 or 7 yards per snap.

If we lose to BC and Army, we should sit the seniors and play the freshmen. Grobe should put some "help wanted" ads in the paper for new coaches.

They lost an NFL QB.

And I think 2 years ago we had them in Winston and a team that wasn't expected to do much after getting hammered in Raleigh the year before, and we beat them. State is a team we just play REALLY well at home and awful on the road.

I believe the factor some are ignoring is Tom O'Brien. His teams almost always sucked on the road.

well It goes back to when I was in school as well. 2-2. Beat them twice in Winston, including a ranked state team. Get crushed in raleigh 1 year and 1 year was OT loss. I believe 3 if not all 4 were Chuck Amato Teams.

Was that the year Rivers was a senior and they had title "hopes" entering the year and ran into a bit of an issue with us and tOSU?

That will help with the inevitable youth excuse.

I don't think it's a stretch at all to think that this team against the schedule we are facing can get to 6 wins.

I'd guess that the win probability is right around 6.2-6.5, so we are definitely around there based on the lines we will be given.

Loh's unyielding pessimism aside, it isn't exactly outrageous to suggest we could go 6-6 next year. As bad as we were last year, we were very close to achieving that mark.

Yeah. "Does Wake Forest make a bowl game?" and "Does Wake Forest have a good team?" are two different questions.

I think it's fair to say that this year's team will be better than last year's team and the schedules are probably similar (I think this year is a little easier actually).

It sucks we lost the last three games of last year by a million points total, but it shouldn't have any effect on this year.

6-6 isn't that good, it's will we make a bowl that is the question.
