Which is better?

Are you talking about the ones where they just throw some spicy sauce on top or where they make up a spicy tuna mix?

have NFI, my palate isn't that refined and I don't eat enough of it to know the difference.

Rare Tuna is the best. Way better than rare salmon. Too bad it will eventually kill you.

Tunafish salad in any form is disgusting. Lowest common denominator food.

Most cooked Salmon is gross. Smoked Salmon is the bomb.

In the end Tuna wins out.

The spicy tuna roll I ate 2 years ago isn't on my camera phone, might have it on my home computer. Will report back.

so you've only had one?

i'm not going to try to claim the spicy tuna roll is better than all other sushi rolls. i have a whole slew of other rolls i prefer over spicy tuna. but i don't really think it's that bad.

I've never seen one that didn't look like this on the left, probably more red like than either of these

I like spicy tuna rolls, but they're generally the way that sushi bars get rid of scraps of tuna that's about to turn.

Salmon is excellent; but few things better than a good tuna steak. A good question is swordfish or salmon? I say swordfish.

my guess is you favor steak to fish by a big margin.

anytime my butcher has the king i get it. i think it's easier to find good tuna than good salmon, and the answers here seem to seal that.

Yep. Got this email from my butcher a couple weeks back: "Some of the tastiest Wild Salmon of the summer is available right now at reasonable prices. For Mister Brisket the biggest problem was deciding which type to get. Sockeye or King…Sockeye or King….so we got both. If you want some marvelous fresh Wild Salmon for your weekend grill, we recommend you respond quickly. The Sockeye is 19.95/lb. The King--which looks the best it has all season--is 24.95/lb. Both are in limited supply so let us know and we'll make sure your order gets filled."

So good.

24.95/lb?!?!!?!

sweet mary.
i'm never moving from here.
we buy caught fresh that day directly from the guy who caught it for $8/lb.

Unfortunately for salmon, as hard as it may try, it will never top fresh bluefin.

True. But it's often the best cheap roll on the menu.

If I lived in the Pacific NW, I'd eat nothing but fresh salmon and halibut all day every day.

I should hit up the big fish market in downtown LA where they haul in all the japan fish every day and learn how to cut my own nigiri

Does the Least Coast have sushi burritos yet? That's going to blow your mind whenever they trickle out there.

Palma, where is that market?

No. I've never heard of such a thing. Please provide more details. That sounds awesome.

They are awesome. Nori, thin layer of sushi rice, then sushi filling, rolled up like a big burrito. They're not cheap (about $10), but when you realize you got that much sushi for that little money, it's a steal.
