NFL Week 16

He throws up numbers and my fantasy team thanks him for that. But he's not clutch and QBs are judged by their ability to be clutch. I'd put him in that 10-15 category, but that's where young, promising QBs reside. He's too experienced to be there.
Yeah, no. Sure, he's made mistakes in key situations. I'm not discounting that, but he gets a lot more shit for it than he should. See: dv7's post.

This is pretty much it. Look at the other 28+ year old starting QB's in the NFL. Rodgers, Rivers, Roethlisberger, Brees, Brady, Peyton, Eli, Flacco, Cutler, Palmer and Schaub. The first 8 guys all have Super Bowl wins except Rivers and a history of coming up big when it matters. Romo is squarely in the Cutler, Palmer and Schaub category as far as postseason production is concerned. Fair or unfair NFL QB's are judged by wins and losses and more specifically, wins and losses in the playoffs. Romo just doesn't have the big wins his peers do and that's why he gets overly criticized. He is still a very good QB despite that.

No need to worry about Romo for the rest of the season as he is out for the remainder.

Wow. Just looked it up:
The Cowboys play the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday night for the NFC East Division title and a playoff spot. Dallas has no made the playoffs in the past three seasons.

“I tweaked it in the game,” Romo said about his back, per the Cowboys’ official website. “For whatever reason, just the twist or whatever that was, definitely just made it not feel comfortable.”

Romo’s backup is veteran Kyle Orton, who has only attempted five passes this season for 40 yards. Romo was having a good season completing 64 percent of his passes for 3,828 yards with 31 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

At least Orton will get a full week of taking snaps with the first team offense.

Oh, and HOPEFULLY this means that DeMarco will be entrusted more. Run. The. Foot. Ball.

While I'm a cowboy hater, I love the idea of them screwing up Christmas for millions of Philadelphians by winning without romo. Go cowboys. Now I need a shower.

Excellent post. Dare I say, Ph is right again!

Will not be surprised if the Cowboys win. Orton will do fine with all the tools they've given Romo to work with. He'll play as well as Romo.

Are you trying to insinuate that Kyle Orton is as good of a QB as Tony Romo?

Maybe. No. Yes.
Romo is the better qb but I don't think Orton's the bum, compared to Romo, that a lot of folks probably do. If you compare him to a top qb in the league like Brady or Brees, okay, he's garbage. But we're not comparing him to one of the top qb's, we're comparing him to Romo. Orton's serviceable.

Well considering the game went from a near flip to 75%/25% game in Vegas I doubt you are correct.

I don't really see how this makes the fact that the Cowboys were going to lose to the Eagles much (read any) worse...at least there's an excuse now (other than Romo) when you lose.

On the flip side and to DV7's point, I think that this may be beneficial since they'll run the ball a ton now with Murray.
