Marcus Smart shoves fan

From jay bilas, I gathered that the consensus is that smart is a good kid off the court. He said that everybody he's talked to & the little he knows marcus, that he is one of the few good kids. His anger & frustration have gotten to him tho.
 
Have we confirmed that this random old fuck said something racist, or is it that all of y'all are channeling your inner DeacFreak?

I still haven't heard/seen anything that hints at racism. Seems that Smart let an opposing fan (who apparently attends a lot of games with rival African-American star players, yet has never said anything racial before) get under his skin.

Why can't the narrative be that a star college basketball player lost his cool on the road, and shoved a rival fan? Its happened before.

Oh because it involves an older white man and a younger African-American player?

The Sportscenter highlights show Smart yelling "...racist motherfucker" that even an amateur lip reader can discern as he's still being pulled away from the scene by teammates. Given the circumstances (middle of close basketball game, clearly irate), it seems unlikely he would decide to play the race card without provocation.

So the guy is a crazy fan of a team with mostly African American players and he calls an African American on the opposing team the "N" word? If that happened every black athlete at TT should tell that guy they don't want his support.

Players hear trash talk all the time and don't react, he must have said something real nasty. Hell, I had Ty Lawson and Deon Thompson laughing when I had a sign referencing the former's DUI

We can agree that race is a topic that should be off limits. This guy sit near me I'd have a word with him. What entitles a "fan" to throw out racial slurs? If he did what is claimed then TT should move him or not let him buy season tickets.
Have no problem with Smart losing his cool in the heat of the moment. I'm somewhat impressed it wasn't worse.

This is what I'm trying to understand. I get that he was face to face with the guy but these players must hear insane shit on a regular basis when they play on the road. If he called him the N word that's of course incredibly inappropriate but you've got to be able to walk away.
