Since when does Aaron rountree make a three? Since when do we out rebound a team in a half? Since when do we shoot 60% from he field in a half? Both teams were lighting it up yesterday in the first half. Just turns out that we got out coached. Gottfried put his team in a position to make meaningful baskets and they did. We turned the ball over too much and missed free throws (all signs of a poorly coached team).

We suck. Makes me so angry. I almost through my remote at the tv when Elmore said year 5 was when [Redacted] had to win. What a freakin moron.

I had the volume off, as I was intermittently watching the game and writing a research analysis at the same time.

I only recall bits and pieces but he was saying "well you lose the big guy Travis McKie... But what you lose you gain in experience [referring to our SOWFmores]... The wins will come, these are just growing pains... This group is going to be pretty formidable in the ACC next year..."

And so on.
 
I loved when they showed Buzz's record over 4 years compare to Gott's over 3 years.
 
I don't really buy that Travis and Devin going 3/14 from the free throw line is coaching.

You know what IS coaching though? Letting a guy go for a career high while shooting 2 free throws. And those 2 free throws came with like 3 minutes left in the game.

How weak can you be as a team to just let a guy put up a career high on you without sending him to the line once? Zero physical play, clearly the coaches didn't challenge our players to be physical with him. We matched up Madison on zero-threat Ty Lewis - the one guy shitty enough and small enough in the ACC that Coron could dominate - and instead let Ralston and Barber score 26 between them.

Just another garbage effort. Dan is right to lay it on. We've got a bruiser like Moto out there along with a soft defender like Travis. We've got a liability with Coron and an excellent defender in Madison. But our NBA-caliber coach who "knows matchups" wastes our better defenders and lets their plan dictate the game instead of ours. At least Codi didn't re-injure himself playing on a bad ankle in a 20 point blowout loss.
 
This is a good effort from Dan.

Seems like the kind of recap that should have been attached to any number of previous games over the Buzz era, but better late than never.
 
Game was over early(State by 20) and our brilliant coach still had 4 timeouts left. He also benched Devin 30 seconds before half not to pick up a cheap foul, but forgot to do the same for CMM...oops.
 
Buzzard is defeated. He's done. He's miserable. Time to pack the Prius and head to Wrightsville

But he called the hell out of those timeouts once the lead had leveled off around 17-19 and we made a quick basket to drop it to 15!!! You didn't really expect him to use a timeout while State went on an 11-0 run did you? X's and O's bitches!

Unlike you and Ph, Dan doesn't really give a shit about this board, you, or what any of us have to say or think. His audience is a shitload bigger than this bitchy board which says a lot considering the circulation of the WSJ. Hard to blame him either- people piss and moan when he gives his take on Wake and then they piss and moan when he gives his take on Wake. Christ, Ph sounds like the prom date Dan jilted. Collateral damage when the passions are heated. To be expected, though.
 
I think it's pretty clear Dan cares about the boards. He definitely reads them.

Why? Dan Collins sent me an unsolicited PM apparently because he gave a shit about what I thought. I don't think I've ever posted a comment on his blog. There was no reason for him to address me.

He's a beat writer and opinion columnist that covers my alma mater. I think he's a decent albeit lazy beat writer and I disagree with his opinions in his opinion column. It's sad that we have such limited coverage in terms of scope, talent, and personnel.
