FiveThirtyEight midterms projections update: Republicans favored to take the Senate

FiveThirtyEight midterms projections update: Republicans favored to take the ...

Warren just needs to run as the anti-Wall Street candidate and she'd have my vote in two seconds. And I'm as moderate as the come, and someone who was a GOPer 2-3 years ago.

She can start by promising to sign an EO sentencing Jamie Diamond to death.

Elizabeth Warren is "extreme"? Only in America. She's fucking centrist as hell in terms of the global political spectrum. There's wealthy western nations where she'd damn near be the right wing.

Most Americans have no clue how extremely right wing the country is. Democrats are a center-right party, for fuck's sake.

Yep.

It truly is bizarre how little global perspective most Americans have...or even care to have.

I'm interested to see Warren's assimilation into the national political scene if she's serious about running for president, but from what I know about her right now she's basically my dream candidate. I imagine she will slide back towards the right a little bit but I hope she doesn't. She has the highest approval rating of any state-wide Massachusetts politician.

Oh I know, and it's why I like her. I also imagine that our social issues mostly align, but I doubt there is much beyond that.

But our disgustingly corrupt financial system pisses me off to no end. So Id vote for her regardless of her stance on any other issues, as long as she promised to bring the mother fucking hammer down on those assholes.

it seems to me that Democrats have been running from being Democrats the last few cycles due to blowback from Obamacare I guess. That stuff may work for some independent voters but it seems to me that it also depresses the base Democratic vote. Kay Hagan ran from being a Democrat as fast as she could and the result was that the base did not turn out for here. Obviously there were a lot of other factors, the main one being the inevitable year 6 swoon in the president's party, but Tillis got out the base and Hagan did not. Warren is about the only person out there who is (a) credible and (b) not afraid to say she's a progressive who is advocating for middle class and poor Americans.

I actually agree with you that Dems made a big mistake not embracing Obama's moderate common sense solutions that got our economy back on track. They let the Rs paint him as an extremist.

Warren actually qualifies as one.

I have a feeling she would do everything in her power to break apart the biggest banks.

I bet you can't offer a single extreme position that Warren holds

Except she doesn't.

What extreme positions does she hold that most people that aren't rich don't also hold related to finances? The reason she's labeled as an extremist by the right is because she's so adamant about breaking up the big banks and Wall Street.

You know what's extreme? Joni Ernst thinks a non-binding resolution is a UN plot to forcibly relocate people to cities. James Inhofe thinks global warming is a hoax. Paul Ryan's thinking on monetary policy is derived from an asshole's diatribe in a weird romance novel.

Elizabeth Warren thinks the economy is overly financialized, that unions should be slightly stronger, bankruptcy should be less creditor-friendly, and that wealthy folks should have a slightly higher marginal income tax rate. Are you even being serious when you call her extreme or are you trolling?

As usual Dems were pussies. how could Udall lose in CO against the guy who helped launch the Personhood Amendment? The PA lost by 30%. This alone could have portrayed his opponent as an extremist. In Iowa, Ernst was for nullification and 2nd Amendment remedies. That should have been an easy Dem win.

She also doesn't think the government should profit from young people's student loan debts. EXTREME AND OUTRAGEOUS!

How many years of her adult life has Warren spent outside of academia or public service? That's where the ivory tower comments likely come from.

I understand the underlying sentiment and it will be a challenge she will have to address and provide an adequate response for. I don't think attacking her for being in an ivory tower delegitimizes any of her points from an intellectual, substantive vantage point though.
