Video Game Thread - The Last of Us = GOTY

Lots of reports coming in from Assassin's Creed Unity players of experiencing lots of glitching and unplayable framerates, even with the day one patch. Hope Ubisoft gets on this pretty quickly. I'm probably going to pick up the AC bundle sometime this week.

For PC or consoles? I'd seen that regarding PC. Probably because Ubisoft is awful at porting their games to PC.

Consoles too from what I read on the XB1/PS4 forums on Gamefaqs

Haha! Suddenly, my business trip, which is keeping me from playing until Saturday, isn't a big deal.

I still haven't finished Shadow of Mordor :(

Have some serious work to do this week before AC:U and DA:I

I played Destiny for the last two months and am finally moving on to Shadow of Mordor, then Sunset Overdrive.

Destiny's fun, and I'll keep it on the shelf in case they drip out some useful updates, but there's just not that much to do after a while. My brain has been trained to enjoy grinding and leveling up, but there's no real point. Kill enemies to get better gear to kill enemies faster. The game did grab me for a good two months, though, so I'd recommend it. The strikes are a lot of fun, but it all just got stale when you step back and look at the big picture.

I have never played a minute of Assassin's Creed. Tell me what I should do to catch up and if those games are available on XBONE.

AC1 is an unusual setting and is a cool proof of concept. I personally liked it a lot, but there are issues. AC2 and Brotherhood are absolutely fantastic and are the high points of the series. Revelations was still pretty good, though not at the same level. AC3 was pretty boring. Haven't played Black Flag, but it was well received in general. From what is being said, Unity is very large and full of kind of ok content. It is a pretty buggy, unoptimized mess right now, though. You no longer need to play any of them to get the story, since the main arc ended with AC3. Only Black Flag and Unity are available on XBox One.

AssFlag is almost as good as Ass2 and AssBro.

Apparently, the Master Chief collection is having some serious multiplayer issues along with its release today. Not a great day for new releases. I was really close to taking the plunge on an XBone, too. Well... I guess we'll see if they can get these games patched up in the next couple weeks.

The Desmond storyline never did anything but annoy me because of how long it took. Am I alone in this opinion?

i liked the "Aliens created all our myths" thing, even if it became a little ridiculous/drawn out in the end. is that what you mean? or just the times when you had to play as angry guy in a hoodie

Just all of it. The whole idea of it was fine I guess, but those sections of gameplay just dragged FOREVER. FWIW, I have a tendency to go full LEROY JENKINS in games with very little patience.

yeah, definitely. actually AC3 "broke" for me at one point and I couldn't push the storyline into the last quarter or so and it was so boring i didnt' even finish the game.

I purchased the latest humble bundle which came with 3 copies of a game called Insurgency to share so I thought I would post the link here:

https://www.humblebundle.com/?gift=nH8n2CVXfwASH42P

Full disclosure if someone else claims a copy of this game it unlocks another game for me...enjoy.

I also have an extra copy of Papers, Please that came with another bundle, if anyone is interested in that PM me and I can send a link.

I am trying yet again to get into Assassin's Creed. I tried AC1 and hated it. Never tried the second or brotherhood. Tried AC3 again, and was bored to tears. Since I got the AC bundle Xbox One, I am now trying Black Flag in the hopes of it interesting me enough to finish it and Unity.

So far, I am bored to tears, the controls are "iffy" at best and I have no idea what's going on in the story. Something about me exploring the memories of an old pirate in order to make a video game? I'll give it a little bit longer, but so far my take on it is just like every other AC game. Shitty controls, convoluted story, uninteresting characters and gameplay.
