Triad restaurant comings, goings and recs

Phoenix Asian on New Garden is the best Chinese in GSO.

Is the Athena Express drive through in Clemmons run by the same people that have the place on Stratford? If so, are the pita's or whatever they are selling there good?

same people...also opened a place on university parkway near hanes mill

Speaking of Chinese, has anyone been to Sampan on Peters Creek?
I like Sampan, i've tried a couple things off their authentic Chinese food menu. I'm not familiar with high end Chinese, but Sampan tastes better than average strip mall garbage

Got some folks headed to Winston for a wedding late in Feb. They want some Barbecue! Any places you locals care to recommend?

Many thanks.

Meh to LR. Prissy Polly's in KVegas FTW

I mean if you're gonna go all the way to Kville you might as well do the authentic thing and go to Lex - i.e. the honey monk or barbecue center. Hill's on Patterson is probably the most authentic lex style in town and the atmosphere is nicer than LR's or Mr. Barbecue. (I wish I could recommend Mr. Barbecue, I would have in the past but it's not what it once was)

If they're not tied to having the local style, Red Hot & Blue is decent food and pretty good atmosphere, and close to campus if that's their landmark. Bib's also, of course, but that place is really not for everyone.

Will be driving through K-ville on the way to and from Winston, so PP is right on the way. Landmark is convention center. But it may be off schedule. They have funny hours. Lex is somewhat out of the way. (Trip there adds an hour of driving time. Coming from and returning to yankee country.)

OK, I'd go with PP's which is easily accessible off of either 40 or RW&B which is just down University from convention center

Potential Valentine's Day restaurant destinations in the Triad.... Go!

*Tried already many of the usual Winston suspects of Mozelles, Ryans, the Frat, Honey Pot, etc

I always thought Bib's was SUPER MEH

I'd rather get a platter from Pig Pickin's and save the $4-5
