Army Post-Game Discussion / Indiana Game Week Thread

I just want to reiterate that while IU's defense is bad, it was missing 4 of its best players against Southern Illinois. The guys who didn't play were the team's top two defensive tackles, the team's best linebacker and the team's most experienced player in the secondary. As an IU fan, it's distressing that they struggled to defend an FCS team, but it's also fair to note that the defense is materially better with those 4 guys back on the field.

IU Wake
Points Per Game. 40.7. 25.0
Points Allowed Per Game 34.7 15.7
Total Yards. 557.7 452.0
Yards Passing. 312.7 312.0
Yards Rushing 245.0 140.0
Yards Allowed 544.3. 253.7
Pass Yards Allowed. 392.7 125.0

Were they back last week vs BG?

Our pass yards allowed looks real good, but skewed by playing Army last week.

Agreed. I think our offense should be fine, even with Hinton. It will depend on which defense of ours shows up

They played Western Kentucky last week and I think they were all back, based on BTB's prior posts.

That's correct. With those guys back, IU's run defense has been much improved. The clear vulnerability is in the secondary where we start two true freshmen and play a few others. WKU's 6th year QB picked IU apart (mostly in the first half) and really exploited the young corners.

GO DEACS BEAT INDIANA

I remember the last time a team came to Groves looking forward to a game against tOSU the next week...

Not sure if this has been posted, but when they "whoop up on WF" they want GameDay in Bloomington for the following week's game against Ohio State: https://indiana.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1806220

Well, I say we save them some time worrying whether they get Game Day or not and put that to bed Saturday afternoon. How awesome would it be to beat Indiana Saturday and then they turn around and best tOSU next week. Remember who our 1 conference win was against last year and who was the only team to beat tOSU last year?

Oh yeah, it took me a minute, but it was the Phillip Rivers Heisman tour. I was hoarse after that game! Idolette had a punt return TD and our offense just flat out ran all over them. The defense gave up a lot of yards to the Pack, but our bend but don't break worked well enough that day.

Now that I think about it, that team that came in here and got beat also wore red and white, had a high-powered offense, a veteran QB, and a big, powerful running back. Hmm...

The hope/fantasy is that Clemson loses this weekend and IU beats Wake and is 4-0 for the first time in 15 years. I'm not holding my breath.
I assume you mean Texas beats ND because Clemson isn't losing to Wofford in a game they're favored by 30+.
