Army Post-Game Discussion / Indiana Game Week Thread

I spoke with one of our safeties tonight and he said that our coaches had let the boys know that IU was playing for Gameday, that they expected to win, and that the Hoosers thought they deserved to have it. He also showed belief that Wake was better than IU. Hopefully the team feels the same way.

I woudn't expect either side to feel any differently to be honest. I'm really hoping we play well tomorrow and get a good win before we get into ACC play.

Makes sense that the Wake coaches would use the Gameday talk as a motivator. The important point to me is that nobody on IU's team is talking about it and Coach Wilson said that IU hasn't won enough to get Gameday and that all the talk is a waste of time. The idea that IU can take anyone for granted, much less an ACC team on the road is ludicrous.

LOL. The first sentence isn't true, but don't let the facts get in your way of making a catchy post. I was a Carolina football fan for exactly one game in my life...and that game was played on October 12th, 1985....which was 89 days after July 15th, 1985.

That was still one day longer than the rest of us.

this can't be good, right?

We have several major building projects in the pipeline, another phase to Wake Forest ballpark, football weight room complex, and renovation to the Joel. It could be a announcement about one of these.

"Rolling arm?"

after watching Wake lose over the last 40 years I have to ask ...

serious question ... I never get used to losing and each time hurts as much as the last one .. presumably we all hate to lose .. but realistically we shouldn't beat indiana since they are just better than we are ...

So given that we will lose unless all of their NFL players get hurt which of these scenarios is better ...would you rather lose by a lot on the scoreboard but statistically be in the game (sort of how we lost to Syracuse) ...

or would you rather be manhandled on both sides of the ball where they have twice the yards and first downs but be close on the scoreboard and actually have a chance to win at then end (like we lost to LA-Monroe the last two years)?

After thinking back about the Syracuse game thread everyone was really excited about the play-calling and about how we looked. So I think everyone here would rather see the first scenario where we get some first downs, move the ball for a while and then get beat by a lot. It gives us all the sense that we're improving.

Better yet, let's go win the game. Even if we have to do it by smoke and mirrors.

The worst scenario is the smoke and mirrors the whole game and then lose a close one. Like the two LA-Monroe games. So those are at least three scenarios I can see. Or actually that's four but who's counting?

Write 3-1 on the board before the game and ask the team if they would rather be 3-1 or 2-2. Would be interested to hear the replies.

Fans need to get in the seats early and be ready for a 3-1 performance!

Indiana will come in with Big-10 confidence.

What is "big ten confidence?"

Is it the equivalent to "SEC speed?"

That's what I'm talking about! Big schools always come in here overconfident. We almost beat Nebraska a few years back and their fans were some of the worst I've ever seen ... leaving the game saying it wasn't supposed to be that close instead of being grateful to have won the game.

We need to give the Indiana fans a miserable trip back home.

The monkey vomit green seats in the upper deck of the Joel FINALLY being replaced?

The Big 10 sucked last weekend. Only NW won a game against another Power 5 school. Toledo beat Iowa st.

I don't understand why we would put one more dime into a ballpark that is almost never used by fans. It just makes little or no sense when baseball is apparently an asterisk for the athletic department.

If money is donated specifically for baseball, that's where they have to use it.

Wellman has said for two summers that the Joel renovation plan would be released. Missed that deadline twice now but hopefully it will come soon.

I'm guessing this is the sports performance center that will connect to the indoor practice field and add another bball practice court.
