I thought I was taking a photo that no one would want to see of Duke's winning TD pass...then, Superman flew in from nowhere.
For me, it's the fact that the coastal division has been down the last few years, allowing duke to get established. Put them in the Atlantic (where fsu and Clemson are top 10 teams) and there program doesn't have the same success.
He's the head football coach at Pahokee now. Hopefully he'll send some players our way.
The lucky thing that Duke did was hire David Cutcliffe and then allow him to assemble a good staff with a good recruiting budget. It is not rocket science.
Speaking of Lewis, it makes me think of Phonz coming out of nowhere to intercept his pass in OT in the 2008 game at BB&T. We had already kicked a FG on our OT possession. I watched that ball leave Lewis's hand, he had a receiver wide open in the end zone and for split second I thought it was over and then Phonz comes flying out of nowhere, leaped up and picked it off, game over! That and his 100 yard returned pick 6 against Maryland in the 4th quarter to spark the comeback against them in 2007, were probably my favorite Phonz plays.
There success is based on playing us every year and not having to lose to Clemson and FSU every year.

Our success was based on playing Duke every year and not having to lose to Va Tech every year.
We lost to an illegal helmet to helmet hit on our Orange Bowl run...

Reff,
Duke Basketball started the academic ease in Durham about ten years ago and football has gotten great benefits from it also.
But my favorite story about Phonz was the final exam and dartboard tale.
