The Official darts thread

Just threw my first set of 50 turns where I averaged over 60, surprisingly with my high throw being 100. Changed up the way I held the darts a bit to behind the center of gravity and felt like I was throwing it dead straight (obviously) the whole throw. Had a ton on the last throw to leave 60.04 average.

Wow. That's really impressive consistency. I've enjoyed your updates and following your progress a bit.

We're so new to this league (and not many others are), so its fun to measure what I'm doing against you.

We had a banner night in the league. Luck had a lot to do with it, but we beat a much better team 12-2 overall. My wife, who realllllly needs to practice more, managed to go 3-0 (1-0 singles cricket, with a doubles cricket and doubles 601 win). She threw 3 winning darts which was just awesome to see.

I played above my head, as well... but nothing like that.

Wow. That's really impressive consistency.

I feel like I get a lot of 66's and 81/85's with my current throw aiming for the trip 20, which I hit quite often, but my misses are junk. I feel like cleaning up the misses will be the key to start averaging in the 80's, at which point I'll start looking for some tournaments to start playing in.

By my count that 65 avg throw I had 27 trip 20's outta 150 throws, so just shy of 20% I was getting it.

followed that up with a 65.74 average and 13 T+'s out of 50

I was initially confused what the term 'ton' meant in darts. I called out a bunch of 'tons' before I realized that it was 100 in a turn rather than just a single trip-20.

Our scorekeeper actually knew where I was confused but failed to point it out to me for a while.

For those familiar with the W-S league... 'QP's are a fun target. It's incredible how often I fall just shy of the barrier. I think I had 6 turns (out of maybe 20) tonight in 01 games where I scored between 85 and 94. I had 0 >94 (which qualifies as a QP/quality point).

Playing last night in cricket, my first 9 darts were like 5, 20, 1, T20, T19, T17, T18, T17, T16.

I'll be around winston for the holidays if anyone wants to throw, VT obv, who else was in town? SCD?

Had three darts hit the trip 20, and scored 0 points (2nd dart bounced out, 3rd dart knocked first out)

I started cricket last night with 6 bulls. We did not continue the game. With how I've been throwing, it was about as unlikely as it gets.

Lost my darts right prior to the holidays, finally made it out to the dart store to get a new set. Been throwing with em about 30 minutes. Went Miss, DB, DB, Bull miss Bull, Bull Bull Bull when aiming for bulls, and just dropped a 180 in my 6th turn keeping score on scoring. Me likey

26 grams up from 22.

60.32 scoring average over first 50 throws. I love being over 60, but significant improvement seems very daunting. I think I can probably get to 70, but 80 would be absurd. Just a handful of 11's or 7s just wrecks ya.

link?

i've been having this really frustrating issue for about two months where I have a serious hitch throwing my first dart. I wind up pump-faking a couple of times that I don't mean to. There is almost no telling where the dart is going when this happens. I regain most my accuracy on the 2nd and 3rd throw, but against decent competition... that's too big of hole to dig out of.

it's happened when i'm stressed, relaxed, sober, buzzed, and everywhere in between.

some really knowledgeable players have had a lot of trouble diagnosing the issue. a guy finally suggested a couple of weeks ago that i'm gripping the dart too far back and i'm anxious that i'm going to flip the throw (which has been happening, occasionally), and i naturally correct after feeling one leave my hand.

i've tried switching the weight of my darts but the problem will pop back up pretty quick.

There are 2 guys in my league who also have the yips. One guy is really bad, the other guy it just happens randomly but doesn't affect his accuracy when he finally does throw.

Are you writing down these throws as they happen?

Do you ever switch it up and go bottom left? Feels like you'd bump your average up a few points of you're as proficient w/ T19 as you are w/ T20
