The devil never sleeps, this time it's Nice, France

In the 1920s there were a huge number of terrorist attacks in the US by immigrants and the children of immigrants. They bombed Wall Street, judges and congressmens offices and a bunch of other locations. The vast majority of them were Italians or the children of Italian immigrants, anarchists and communists. In 1919 alone in one event there was more than 20 bombs placed or mailed in terrorist attackes. That was less than 100 years ago, but it's strange people have forgotten it already.

Being an immigrant is fucking tough, and the children of immigrants (especially those that are marginalized due to race or religion like Italians were in the US) often grow up struggling to find their feet between two worlds and some resort to very violent crime. This isn't a new phenomenom or a rare one, and it's not unique to Islam.

My wife is Sicilian American. And I'm damn glad that they didn't deport anyone who was Catholic (remember, 100 years that was far worse than being a muslim), had swarthy skin, couldn't speak English or was from Italy just because a small portion of the population was turning to anarchist, terrorist violence. Those things were all proposed, but thankfully not acted on. And our country is a better place for having people like my wife and her family in it.

Did you marry awakegirl?

But there were immigration restrictions in place, and I would argue they weren't stringent enough. I don't see why you feel that makes no sense. We were assisting the Afgahns in what many saw as a war of liberation. I think it was foolish and a huge mistake. But that doesn't mean the government is justified in letting huge numbers of Afghans immigrate here. Anyway, the Orlando shooter's parents were from Afghanistan, like I said, and many of these Islamic-inspired attacks are committed by people whose parents were immigrants. If his parents had not been allowed to immigrate, those people would not have been murdered.

Just such a simple view of the world here.

What? You think every Afghani that wanted to immigrate shpuld have been allowed to because the US took a side in a cold war conflict? Most Afghanis opposed the Communists and their Soviet backers. Do I think the US fucked up? Of course. I thought so at the time. I remember watching a CNN documentary at the time (back when CNN had at least some interest in serious news coverage) and quickly understood they were gonna turn those weapons on us once they got rid of the Soviets. But not sure why you think that conflict entitled his father to immigrate here. Would I have rathered we never got involved? Of course. Lots of things could have been done differently.

Wait... how old are you?

Why did I think you were younger than me? (I'm 35)

Do you think the US would have been justified in denying immigration to any of the Afghans who wanted to come here? For example, the communists that we opposed- should they have been denied? And any of our allies who fought to get rid of the Soviets that wanted to come here, they should have been allowed to immigrate? If you think about it, we would have been much better letting the commies immigrate. At least they weren't religious fanatics and tended to believe in things like woman's rights.

I don't have any issue with contouring immigration, but you're just using hindsight to justify your views. Even with increased immigration regulations there's no way of telling or knowing whatsoever whose kids will grow up to commit a mass murder in 30 years. It's absolutely ridiculous.

Of course I never said we can predict whose kid will turn out to be a terrorist- that's just an rjesque tactic you've repeatedly used on this thread, making up things and claiming that's my position. But what we can say is, we've got immigrants and the children of immigrants killing people in the name of Islam. And one way we can start to get a bit more control of the situation and lessen our risk even more is through immigration. You might not like it but it's a fact, if the Orlando shooter's parents had not been allowed to immigrate those people in Orlando would jot have been killed that night. Same goes for the people in Nice last night. You can go down the list of attacks.

And if Jeffrey's Dahmer's ancestors never immigrated to America all those victims wouldn't have been killed either. It's science.

Why not consider the children of these immigrants as well? And why not consider the costs associated with these attacks- in terms of the lives destroyed, the civl liberties lost, the financial costs, etc. And why limit it to the past few years? Your whole framing reeks of disingenuousness.

I didn't say otherwise, but the point is if their parents had been denied entry they would have been born in a Muslim country, not here. There is a problem with the children of recent immigrants carrying out these acts.

What are the points of these posts, in which you specifically bring up terrorists who are the children immigrants? Your position is that we should decrease immigration because immigrants may have kids here who in turn end up committing domestic terror attacks? Beyond the fact that this makes up a very small percentage of those who do commit domestic terror attacks in America, it's just an extremely simple argument that doesn't account for a whole litany of factors.

If my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle.

If Osama Bin Laden's parents hadn't gotten pregnant then he wouldn't have existed.

If the universe didn't exist we wouldn't be here.

For someone who recently expressed frustration about "obvious" statements you sure do seem to love to harp on an obvious statement that doesn't address policy whatsoever other than to be a blanket call of "WE NEED TO DECREASE IMMIGRATION BECAUSE SOME OF THEIR FUTURE KIDS MIGHT HURT US."

If Hitler had gotten accepted into art school maybe the Holocaust wouldn't have happened. We should increase the acceptance rate to art schools!

The worst thing was the sheer number of children coming in, the nature of their injuries – serious head trauma and broken limbs – and the emotion felt by the children and their families,” said Frederic Sola, a paediatric orthopaedic surgeon who worked in the hospital emergency room through the night. “The children were physically very injured but also emotionally very hurt.”

Some relatives were in such shock they were unable to talk. “The psychologists have heard terrible things, there are awful stories that children are telling,” said Stéphanie Simpson, head of the hospital’s communications team.

She said 39 people hit in the attacks had been brought to the children’s emergency department. A total of 30 children were treated at the hospital after the attack – the youngest only a few months old and the oldest was 18. Two children died in the night after being admitted. Several children were still in intensive care on Friday.

Did not say this. I actually think we need to much more restrictive regarding immigration for a slew of reasons- but yes, the fact Muslim immigrants and sometimes their children are responsible for a number of devastating terrorist attacks is one of those reasons. Fortunately many of their plots have been foiled over the years but they are not gonna stop trying to kill infidels. There was a French poll a while back where 16% of the respondents were sympathetic to ISIS. That number was much higher for young people- what I imagine were often the children of immigrants.

Let's say the situation is different in the US and it's only 1%. That's still a shitload of potential terrorists. No, we shouldn't start deporting those who are already here legally, but I see nothing wrong with putting the brakes on most future immigration. If the person is well vetted and is likely to significantly contribute to the fortunes of the US, either cuturally (an artist, professor, intellectual, etc) or financially (someone who is weaalthy and will be creating jobs or has a skill that is in demand), let them immigrate. But a largely illiterate Pakistani who was educated in a madrasa? No thanks. We have more than enough people already.

Should we start deporting black people because they are more likely to kill people than white people?

Where does it stop?

Perhaps. But I know if the Orlando shooter's parents hadn't been allowed to immigrate, all those people would not have been murdered that night and their loved ones would not have had their lives turned upside down. You can go down the list of Islamic terrorist attacks in the west and for the most part this will hold true. Maybe it's because we disagree about the significance of the threat posed by Islamic terrorism that you aren't bothered by Hillary bringing in almost another million Muslims in her first term.
Between 2001 and 2013, the U.S. permanently resettled 1.5 million Muslim migrants on green cards. However, under Hillary Clinton’s stated proposals, Muslim immigration would grow substantially faster, adding nearly one million Muslim migrants to the U.S. during her first term alone.

Have I advocated deporting legal citizens? No. I said I'm opposed to that. But you and your bro keep bringing it up.
