Official 2016 Republican National Convention thread

Trump is making classic Republican and Democrat promises with a Republican budget.

The math doesn't work.

Reminder: the current President has spent $8T we didn't have. Carry on.

What would it feel like to get fucked in the arse by a billionaire?

Ask McCrory and Pence, Thiel reamed them big time (with an asset from Trump) the same day the NBA cancelled the CLT All-Star game. Why add Pence as VP, let social conservatives trash LBGTQs in the platform, allow icky prison butt sex Carson to speak, but give Thiel a coveted spot on the most watched night? At least social conservatives can relate to how labor unions got marginalized at the 2012 CLT Dem convention. NC is the only swing state where Pence can stick to his guns, but Thiel froth will be oozing out of multiple Pence and Cruz orifices beyond 2020.

Tough night for Bernie and Franken, Ivanka's now the clear front runner for the first Jewish President. Might also be the first non-duopoly POTUS in 200+ years.

I know that it's Donald Trump and he hardly ever tells the truth/we expect nothing better, but holy cow last night was just lie after lie after lie.

Spare me the "ALL POLITICIANS LIE", and "HILLARY IS A MASTER LIAR". Last night was absolutely disgusting from fear mongering, as well as lying standpoint.

He promised he would deliver almost everything with no hint at what the plans would be to get it there. Where is all the money coming from to make all these changes.

The whole thing was extremely unsettling and bizarre, even for Trump.

It is an interesting pivot for the GOP to acknowledge LGBTQ are humans (sounded like Donald was reading from an eye chart when he was saying that), I'll give them that. Don't know whose votes that'll swing since it brings them up to the 80s at best, and more likely loses them votes. But posturing or no, it is refreshing.

Completely agree. I've been a lifelong republican (including spending six years of my career working for the party). A small part of me really wanted to come out of this week liking this guy but fuck this noise. Not my party anymore. I am out for good.

That's like neglecting the Deacs for good just because Buzzdelick was our coach for a while. Stand by your party, yo. Maybe sit this election out but stand by your party.

Why? If the party doesn't emphasize or reflect your personal values anymore what's the point in just staying with your party? Doesn't really make any sense to me at all.

Tongue and cheek. He can do whatever he wants to do, of course.

I would hope nobody here supports a political party like they support the Deacs.

Well said; haven't voted Dem since '72. While I have the luxury of not doing so again in '16 since I live in NJ and my vote means shit; this asshole has set our Party back 10 years.

Meanwhile I haven't voted Pub since 1988, but this was the year to (or so I thought as I am no fan of HRC) until dickweeds named Trump or Cruz came along. I guess Pubs just wanted a populist, but they could have done so much better than this idiot.

"Garry Kasparov (@Kasparov63): “I’ve heard this sort of speech a lot in the last 15 years and trust me, it doesn’t sound any better in Russian.”

Thought this was funny

Why should Kasparov be surprised? Manafort is running Trump's campaign and is Putin's employee.

Everyone be safe today in the war zone that is the American streets.

Thankfully there was no violence in Cleveland. Props to the Cleveland PD. Violent Dem protestors had been playing directly into Trump's hands (and his speech which was written weeks ago). GOP delegates were also a lot smarter than Trump rally goers. They shut down protestors quietly and peacefully. Philly now on the clock...

Well only in the context of them being under attack from foreign (read Muslim) forces. Zero acknowledgement that the biggest persecutors of LGBTQ individuals are American Christians
