So how exactly did this happen?

He has talked a big talk about consequences for offshoring. I'm still curious as to how the decisions will be made between getting the carrot and getting the stick. My cynical guess is that these decisions will become a form of kickbacks for Trump's friends.
Again too early to tell as he isn't in office yet but keeping 1000 jobs before stepping in office is a kick back for the american people and the economy. But I do not dismiss your concern.

sorry to offend your rhetorical sensibilities, on the other hand it is accurate

So what about the right-liberals? And the left-conservatives? Are these hybrid ideologies? How is "left-liberal" not tautological?

Obama has been incredibly candid and thoughtful about his failures to a great degree. Read things. Fuck.

Probably too candid, tbh. Little did he know that he never needed to admit a single shortcoming. He could have just thrown them into the spin factory and made up his own headlines.

doesn't matter, guys.

Carrier is staying in some form and Trump "saved" some jobs, nailing a campaign promise even before taking office.

did you already forget the post earlier about pizza in the cafeteria?

None of it matters. He's gonna call it a victory on his victory tour and people will still eat it up.

Yes! -- we're having a fuckin' pizza party!? You think he could get us ten extra minutes of recess once a month? Trump rulez

:circlejerk:

Lets think about the long-term positives of saving over a thousand american jobs. These are folks who are employed and can pump money back into the economy, rather than leech off of the system. They can now put food on the table for their kids and maybe even afford to buy their kids Christmas presents this year. Sure, you guys can spin this however you want, but to those employees and those families in Indiana, this is a VERY big deal to them and an accomplishment any way you slice it.

can you explain what it means if someone is left but not liberal?

He could be thinking of neoliberals as a contrast. Though given the left libs support of Hillary, and her embracing of neoliberals and their policies, the lines got kind of blurry.

so, jobs at any cost? interesting.

what about, for example, all those PP jobs that'll be lost or Higher Ed jobs lost when Trump and the Congress slash their funding?

The Carrier deal is all about PR--good politics and bad policy. That said, the media are playing right into Trump's hands by making such a big deal of it. Obama has spent billions throwing money at the solar industry and they ate that up. It's a double standard and anyone with eyes can see that.

I'm calling keeping a thousand jobs on our soil a success for those families and in the long-term, will benefit the economy.

When Trump bends over PP and Higher Ed, I'll be here and I'll give you my opinion of it then. You have my word. Quote me if you'd like.

Think about the millions of jobs that will be created when Trump implements immigration policies that work for the American people instead of hurting them.

Also, without stereotyping, my guess is the folks working in manufacturing at Carrier probably don't have the same credentials/education levels as those working at PP and Higher Ed, so therefore would have a more difficult time finding work.

Definitely not what I'm saying. The last time I checked, Trump hasn't dismantled PP or eliminated a lot of education jobs, so when he does, we can chat about it.

So now the government stepping in to save business and enterprise with tax payer money is a bad thing to liberals. That's interesting.

you forget about the Republican congress who Trump certainly will not veto

They can always get a job working on the Great Wall of Trump. It's time we all come together, no matter how you felt before the election, and pull together as Americans to MAGA. That's the kind of inspiring stuff I expect to hear at the Victory Rally tonight.
