The Audacity of Hopelessness

For those of you that see that meme as being racist, I think it speaks to your own hypersensitive, politically correct, patronizing attitude towards black people. There would be no outrage if it was a pic of a dowdy looking white woman and a glamour shot of a black woman. But reverse it and most of you have a visceral reaction and immediately scream "Racism!" If I were to post a meme that makes fun of Serena Williams having some mannish features, most of you would once again scream "Racism!" But the same people would have no problem laughing at Will Ferrell's impersonation of Janet Reno.

Regardless of whether the meme is racist, it speaks volumes about you as a person. I hope you do not have kids and if you do I pity them. That you so openly and cavalierly demean a woman based on looks is pathetic. Michelle Obama is brilliant and has shown the utmost class in the face of incredible vitriol and racism that no person should have to face. It is hilarious that you have the gall to make a thread about this incredibly mundane statement when Trump is good for 100 more controversial quotes in a weeks time.

Well this is an interesting juxtaposition. E'rybody chill out a little bit. It's Christmas.

Haven't you heard, they're waging a war Christmas. The absolute last thing you want to do is bring up Christmas to these folks. It makes them even angrier.

Consider this possibility: MAGA is about bringing back manufacturing jobs, not bringing back Jim Crow. The only thing anyone has ever pointed to that Trump has said negatively about blacks is that they are generally poor and don't live in rural areas. And? Is he wrong? American social existence has evolved since the 1950s. Nobody in his right mind thinks Trump wants to bring back German Shepards and firehoses. That's a fine argument you've got there to scare up a traditionally democratic stronghold, but it's dishonest and has no basis in reality. Kindof like the Ruskies hacking our voting machines.

Just consider that possibility. Now, whether manufacturing jobs are coming back is another thing entirely. But is MAGA really a bigger lie than HOPE? Obama gonna pay my mortgage; Trump gonna give me a job. What's the difference, really?

Your post is willfully ignorant on both Trump's messaging about black Americans and the potential impact of Trump policy.

For starters:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2016/10/10/donald-trump-gets-a-basic-fact-wrong-about-black-americans/?utm_term=.25a31f9fcf43

“I would be a president for all of the people — African Americans, the inner cities,” he said. “You go into the inner cities and you see it's 45 percent poverty, African Americans now 45 percent poverty in the inner cities.”

Trump's response is troubling for a couple of reasons. First, it contradicts federal data, which puts the poverty rate among black residents of metropolitan areas at 26 percent. Though that data includes suburban neighborhoods, Trump's number exceeds the black poverty rate in even the poorest big city in the country. Fewer than 40 percent of black residents in Detroit live below the poverty line, according to census data.

The exodus has accelerated with time. Now, black suburbanites outnumber those living in the city centers. According to the Brookings Institution, suburban black Americans made up 37 percent of those in metro areas in 1990. Today, they make up 51 percent.

Trump has also:

-Called for the execution of the exonerated central park five.
-Led the birther movement.
-Called for the implementation of nationwide stop and frisk.
-Implied that voting was rigged in predominantly black cities.
-Characterized inner cities as war zones where you frequently get shot walking to the store.

"Our African-American communities are absolutely in the worst shape they've ever been in before. Ever. Ever. Ever," Trump said. "You take a look at the inner cities. You’ve got no education. You’ve got no jobs. You get shot walking down the street."

That meme is scummy, and only a scummy person would post it. These are all scummy rationalizations a scummy person would post after realizing that the scummy thing he posted reveals his scummy nature, but scummy Internet posters don't walk back from their scum. They double-down on their scum.

All in all, you're helping Make America Scum Again.

This is the sort of moronic refutation I've come to expect from many of you dimwits. So don't bitch when I refuse to take you seriously and respond in kind.

The Bard of the Boards was simply trying to explain something to bob in language bob might understand.

how was all that hope and change Obama gave everyone ?

For me personally? Great. My life has truly been awesome over the last 8 years. My family is doing great too. My republican parents have made an ass load of money throughout his administration.

I always welcome your ridicule and indignation. The outrage you express when your sense of propriety has been offended seems sincere.
