NFL Offseason Thread: 2018 NFL Draft

ha, the ONLY player on the boys defense i've ever heard of is sean lee and he's 90 years old

Kyle Wilbur has been a Cowboy his whole career.

In the 2016 NFL: gave up 5th fewest points (19.1 ppg) and 14th fewest yards allowed. Didn't force enough turnovers (19th) though.

That's a good but not great defense. And I think the secondary will be better this year due to the new secondary. Even with the Giants' currently anemic offensive showing, early returns look good for the Dallas D tonight.

Points and ypg without context is like using wins for pitchers in baseball. Dallas' D improved dramatically last year because Marinelli is a great D coordinator. Took a unit with subpar talent and got them to be almost average. They were 16th or 17th in dvoa- which is particularly more useful for a team like Dallas because the offense was so good at controlling games / TOP.

I'd expect them to be in the 15-20 range again. Maybe Marinelli will get even more out of them but I don't think they're objectively good.

They didn't/don't allow points to be scored in bunches when on the field. I'm cool with that.

I don't know what dvoa- means or computes

Ffs...Switzer is trying to pull his punt return bullshit in the NFL too?

It measures efficiency. I agree though - they were fine. That's all they probably need to be with the offense unless Dak has a big regression

Think Dallas' main issue is the schedule. Brutal. AFC West is a tough draw and have to play SEA/GB/ATL

Interesting that McFadden was made inactive over Morris or Rod Smith. He is more versatile than either and had similar stats as both preseason

Dak and Zeke will regress

I expect the same from Dak as last year. Game manager that doesn't make many mistakes and even fewer crucial ones. He was a bit overhyped last year and him getting NFL O-Rookie of the Year in 2016 over Zeke was absurd.

Zeke is the real deal. But if he only gets 1400 yards and 12 TDs this year, I guess that would be a "regression".

Dak and Zeke will regress

Zeke seems to be a fucking asshole, but is an awesome football player behind a very good line. Don't see it.

Dak is to be determined. He's in about the best situation possible. Not convinced he'd be great on a different team but who knows.

Why is the Giants' o-line so fucking bad?

Lots of pressures and sacks from this sub-par Cowboys front 4.

the fuck kind of roughing call is that?

I hate these new-ish rules. Just put red bibs on the QBs already.

How relevant!

But I don't like that either and it should be punished with cautions more often.

But honestly, that just comes across like, "I want to say something glib yet funny, but I don't know enough about the sport I'm watching, so I'll just make a joke about the favorite sport of the poster I'm quoting. I'm so clever."
