All I know is that I've had my in-laws camped out in my house since Thursday for a bunch of bullshit. Their house didn't even lose power and they watched their security cameras online as it rained and some branches fell down in the backyard. Whoopdeedamndo. Luckily they seem to be wising up to the fact that they live in an area not suitable for full-time residence, and will hopefully move somewhere more sensible.

Lost power in Jax at 1am last night and still don't have it. Got almost no sleep as the wind/rain was so intense, and that was with running a noise machine app on my phone. Outside of tons of limbs and a brown/green pool, no real damage. A few blocks away they are getting the river flooding. Spent all day cleaning up and putting our stuff back. Really, really ready for some power and AC at this point. Having gas stove and water heater has helped.

Boss in Orlando lost power, has some snakes in her pool, and found an armadillo on her porch. But otherwise mostly ok.

My pool looked like there should gave been some gators in it. I scooped a full big trash can worth of limbs, branches, leaves, acorns, etc out of it.

Florida gets hit by hurricanes a lot, and they usually soften up when they wipe out the islands first. But more people move to there anyway, thus more panic and more noobs each hurricane season. Plus they haven't had a hurricane in a while. When I was a kid it seems like a big one was pummeling them every couple years. Gloria, Hugo, Andrew, etc... The oddity of this hurricane was, IMO, that it was so wide and covered most of the state by going south-north. The power of it was not an issue once it hit the islands. Thankfully, it did not stall out like Harvey either.

Hugo never hit Florida, although all the folks from Charleston to Charlotte probably wish it had.

I didn't know Florida had armadillos.

People are being told it could be weeks before power is restored in central and southern Florida.

Inexplicably, CMS is on a 2-hour delay this morning. This may be worse than any of the (non)snow delays. It was somewhat windy and it rained last night, so surely school needs to be delayed this morning and everyone's schedule gets fucked up. This may be the biggest instance of pussification yet. I have yet to hear any actual reason for it, other than speculation that buses can tip over in the wind, but the wind advisory was only through 4am and it was never even close to being windy enough to tip over a bus.

LOL there is nothing more pussified than parents complaining that they have to alter their precious morning schedule to actually take care of their devil spawn. Sorry you couldn't make it 7:30 pilates sweetheart.
