Bottom line IMO: WHen you make Cam a pocket passer, you take away what differentiates him from other QBs and you take away what is the difference maker - his legs and his threat to use his legs. Now, with Cam staying in pocket, you have reduced him to being a thrower. And Cam is NOT a great thrower of the ball. And with his legs out of the equation, DBs and linebackers can stick like glue to receivers and you can blitz etc and not get burned. So then you are back to having to be a great thrower, and Cam just is not. With his legs he is a great thrower because receivers can separate and he creates time. As it is now, Cam is basically a NFL 2nd string QB: not super accurate as a thrower and not a super decision-maker (waits too long to throw and doesn't anticipate patterns super well). To top it off, now that he has to stay in the pocket, you better have great tackles and we do not have that.

I haven't seen another quarterback look worse than him so far this season (except for DA in that one series). I still think he is working his way back into shape and will improve quickly.

This is pretty spot on. We can have Bad Cam for 7-8 more years and be mediocre, or go out in a blaze of glory and have MVP Cam for 3-4 years until he is literally worn down.

Or just let Cam protest and get MVP Cam back

Or get a legit OL.

I'll tell you something else. Shula better watch it. He has new toys, and so far he is utilizing them mediocre at best and to little success based on the inability to score. He better watch it. Richardson is unpredictable, and Shula could be jettisoned soon.

Unless Shula is a Wofford graduate.

Breaking: Panthers’ Cam Newton considering protest for Sunday at New England

Heads gonna explode. Comment sections should be interesting.

ETA: From the comments section. Hey Cam, you think you are divisive now, take a knee Sunday and embarrass Jerry Richardson and Ron and ser how much political capital you after with afterwards. A protest by you and your injury could exsacerbate your timetable to the unemployment line and join your friend Kaepernick. Do not embarrass the hand that feeds you and gave you a chance after your cheating and thievery in college.

I hope he protests so he plays better Sunday.

"He said he wasn’t as tuned in as he wanted to be then because his focus had been on game preparation."

Damn if he was too focused on preparation last week, imagine his play this week without the preparation.

Some people are going to hate Cam no matter what he does. Rather than see him as a leader in the community and recognize all of the great things Cam has done, this guy still just relegates him to football player, "cheater", and "thief", at best.

So spare me the "If he takes a knee, THAT'S the last straw!" spiel.

Hard to work at 100% if you feel like your boss doesn't have your back especially when other bosses are showing unity.

The boss man fired the GM so they could get raises. if they think he doesn't have their backs, they're complete morons.

Agree with the others saying that Cam's shoulder is not right. Not sure if it will take weeks or the season. He may be in for a "Kurt Warner" year like he had with the Giants, then re-emerge fully healthy as a Cardinal.

Cam is expected to join the protest on Sunday. The takes are going to set a world record for heat.

Cam protesting at a Pats game? Scalding hot takes.

after his last 20 games, might indeed be time to find a second career ala Kap
