Man that Future Islands show was legit. Brotha has some demons that spur some beautiful music.

That show/festival at Shakori Hills was awesome. I only expected 1 or 2 thousand and there was probably 5 thousand people there. Great food trucks, beer tents everywhere, beautiful weather, beautiful women, and lots of good indie music. Very cool to hear 5 thousand people, in the middle of the woods, howl at the moon along with Sylvan Esso. I'll remember that show for a long time.

I was gonna estimate 6-7k just because the downtown Raleigh amphitheater holds 6k and it felt like there were at least that many people. It was PACKED. Takeaways:

1. Sylvan Esso is badass as fuck. I've seen a lot of live acts, and they are one of the best. Wish I could buy stock in them.

2. Wye Oak played 2 or 3 songs off an album they just finished making, and those songs sounded really good. I did not get to bring home Jen Wasner to live with us, will have to wait until a more intimate club show. Her voice is so great.

3. Tuneyards played all stuff from an album SHE just finished. Only played 3 songs from her existing albums. Made it a little harder to get into.

4. Lots of young people at this show. Wife and I felt very old. Lots of reefer too. El Chupe could have met his future bride if he'd attended.

5. Man that place is way out in the country. Good times though. Would be fun to camp out if I was 18 years younger.

To me, their sound is just so unique. I'm also impressed that they only have 2 albums, but they come across as so confident. Great band, really fun show. Want to see them again. A club setting seems like it would be bananas.

Another thing about Shakori Hills is that it's so far out in the country, there isn't even cell phone coverage. And it was dark as fuck and completely jam packed. Felt sure I was going to get separated from Wife and never see her again. Also didn't know score of FSU game. For me, the game was like Schroeder's Cat or whatever there for a while.

When I saw them last, homegirl was wearing six-inch platform boots. She was awesome.

I'm still not convinced dude is actually doing anything live once he hits play on the track. His movements never matched up with the song.

Thought the same thing once or twice

Towkio and D.R.A.M. both toured with Chance and were pretty solid as far as opening acts go.

Also, not in the rap realm, but Frank Turner is INSANE live. And Chreub was a pretty fun show as well.

Saw him this weekend. Was very impressed.

Was at the Frank / Jason show Friday night. Was already a fan of Frank and he was quite good, but wouldnt use the word insane to describe him. Maybe at a UK show he is though. Third time seeing Jason this year, 7th or 8th time in last few years. Show was great...guitar duel during never gonna change was epic but kinda prefer the shows without amanda (better guitar solos) and hate that he only does 2, maybe 3 of the live show staples that built his concert rep the last few years. Even Bruce always plays badlands and promised land every show. At least we got Flying Over Water and Stockholm which imo are 2 of the best 4 or 5 live tracks from last 3 albums.
