Saturday was the worst performance I have seen by a WF teeam and I have been a fan since '58. This maybe my last season as a season ticket holder. There is no excuse for a team playing that bad in the 6th game of the season.

I'd take them over App or a good American team like USF or Cincy in the Gasparilla. If motivation isn't a problem those teams would tonk us.

Of course worth noting we won as 10 1/2 point dogs vs AAC champ Temple in 2016

Grobe's defenses were definitely better first off and even the ones that weren't his best, were at least usually good at keeping everything in front of them and dying a slow death at least. Our defense now seems to give up big plays even when the objective is to keep things in front of them, which is really bad. I hope the injuries are the biggest reason for it. Losing Bates really hurt, our safeties just aren't good. We've got some athletes at Linebacker, but to me we're recruiting big safeties to play linebacker, instead of true linebackers. I know with the spread offenses now, recruiting philosophy has changed a little bit and it's trending toward linebacker's that are smaller and quicker to really cover the field, but I think that hurts the run defense. Going back awhile it seemed we almost always had a physical run stuffer at LB. Guys like Kelvin Moses, Jon Abate, Arron Curry, Brandon Chubb, Marquel Lee, etc., but now it seems like we've got some good athletes like Taylor and Strnad, but they just don't seem like physical linebackers that can get off blocks and fill gaps effectively.

you know there are too many bowl games when that's the topic of conversation after a 63-3 loss which could easily have been worse
 
El Paso is chomping at the bit for the opportunity to give us a bowl bid. They're rooting hard for us to get six wins !

I saw where Coastal Carolina is freaking predicted to make a bowl this year. What are they in, their 2nd year as an FBS school?

That is just not true. Each year Grobe would lay two big eggs. Maybe not 63-3 but we would get pummeled at least twice each year (at least the last 5 years).
 
And Grobe's defenses fell off a cliff once Dean Hood and the Frosh Deacs both left. Similar to what we're seeing on our D post-Elko

I think so. I'm sure they are thinking what most of us diehards (the ones that post here) are thinking. Just once this year I'm sure they would like to come out to a packed stadium. Can we start a following like The Congregation except it would be for football? You don't even have to go to away games.
Just get everyone together and tailgate in the fucking Gold lot right in front of the stadium. Then all of those same folks sit together and make fucking noise. I know there are vocal Deacon fans but the problem is, they are sprinkled between those old farts who want you to sit down and enjoy the game and politely clap. :golfclap:

Need to do something like that to get folks fired up or at least get the rowdy folks together that WANT to be at the game and make noise.
 
YES ! Putting those 600 fans together would make all the difference in the world !
 
Doesn't feel like defensive coordinators get shout-outs like this very often.

Ok I'll play along. Put those 600 at the 50 yard line. I would say East Side but I'm sure folks would rather sit on the Tower side. Let them tailgate in the Gold Lot so they can be close to the Deacon Walk. Put those folks in the most visible places to represent Wake football. Shoot back Biff, give me some better ideas.

I know that Wake does not have a great history or following in football but Jesus man, can we not come together for some better fucking ideas to get fan support better and put all the diehards in one place, whether it be 200, 600, or 1,000 folks. There has to be a better way to do this because Saturday was fucking embarrassing and I'm not even talking about what took place on the field. Oh and I know the Athletic Dept. would never do something like that. Just thinking out loud.
 
Don’t we have diehard soccer fans because Wake soccer is one of the top programs in the country?

Can’t put the cart in front of the horse.

Didn’t Grobe get beat similarly by an unbanked Maryland? I also remember UConn hanging 50 some points on him.
