Official 2018-19 NBA Season Thread - NBA Finals Raptors Win #WeTheNorth

Oooo, apparently the Clippers getting the picks is so they can better make a run at Anthony Davis

Sporting news reporting spurs "trying hard" to move gasoline. Can't imagine that will be easy. Though at this point its 1 1/2 years left with next year partial guarantee so maybe.

Move him for what? Stanley Johnson was the only potential target who seemed someone getable and he's gone.

Just got an alert that Tatum is a "major part" of AD trade talks. Interesting.

Did not say. Probably best available. He really does not help them.

Probably a conditional 2nd round pick and cash considerations.

Another aspect of the trade is The Logo effectively gave the Clippers this year's lottery pick. If they hadn't traded Harris and Boban, the Clips could have made the playoffs. Had they done that, their first round pick this year would have gone to the Warriors. By being in the lottery, they keep their pick.

The Logo is the god of GMs.

This. I’m devastated because I loved both of those guys, but the trade is incredible.

Simmons is probably scared of what this means for Boston.

Also Tobias Harris is a much better player than Jrue.

NBA players averaging 20 ppg, 49% FG, 43% 3P, 87% FT:

Steph Curry
Tobias Harris

End of list.

Lowest usage rate of any 20ppg scorer in the game.

He's one of the best offensive players in the league, and at their greatest position of need.

And his usage rate goes even lower playing with the hog Butler and the hog Embiid and whatever Simmons is. As I said, I think Harris is better than either Butler or Simmons. But the Sixers as constructed will waste him. They need to move Butler for this to work out.

The reason they didn't make that offer for Jrue is it wouldn't have gotten them Jrue. It would have been Shamet, a possibly decent 1st Round pick and a crappy 1st Round pick for Jrue. He's worth more than that. By the way, why would the Sixers want a ball heavy PG who can't shoot threes?

There is one thing that gives the Sixers a reason to go after Harris like this. By doing so, they get his Bird Rights. They can sign him for an extra year and for more money. He's a good piece that makes up for losing Saric and Covington.

Something to think about is the Sixers won't have to pay the "repeat offender" tax until the 21-22 season as they are under at this point. By then, they could trade one of the players for other things.

Will definitely be interesting to see how the Sixers do against smaller guard heavy lineups, but also who is Kyrie guarding in the Sixers starting 5? Back with Covington, and more recently with Muscala and Chandler, there was always a way to hide who Kyrie was guarding. Lowry guarded Muscala last night. Simmons is way too big to guard with a smaller guy, Redick will run you ragged, and between Jimmy and Tobias, who do you really want Kyrie guarding?

Sixers can play a lineup that is 6'10", 6'4", 6'8", 6'9", 7'2" without sacrificing shooting--nobody in the NBA can do that, and I question how many can reasonably defend that.

I am worried about Butler--regardless of how they want to play things, his usage rate will go down which means he'll be unhappy, and he's already causing problems as is.

I think they'll still go after a couple more pieces. You don't go all in like this giving up picks and a rookie only to come up short of bench depth and add another UFA.

defs gonna put the personalities in a pressure cooker when you have that much talent and a couple egos

never gonna happen, but getting Butler to Ginobli the second unit would be killer

They really have their eyes on Wes Matthews. He'd be a great bench guy.

Butler and Matthews were at Marquette for two years together. They only played one year as Butler couldn't play as a frosh. Maybe having a buddy will help calm Jimmy down a bit.

Otto Porter to Bulls for Portis and Parker. Wiz shed Porter’s salary. Not sure I get this deal from the Bulls’ perspective

Dallas sure will be an attractive spot for some big name to go there in the next year or two.

I also had them punting on two years to wait to clear salary the other day. Dumping Barnes for nothing is even better.
