Official 2020-21 NBA Finals - Milwaukee Bucks win the NBA Championship!

Great point about the 2019 Bucks. In the game 6 loss to the Raptors, the Bucks were relying on Ersan Illsova and Eric Bledsoe to play key roles. Giannis was 24 year-old and he scored 21 in the game 6 loss to Toronto. Giannis at age 26 is actually a year younger than either LeBron or Jordan were when they won their first titles. There is no doubt that the 2021 Bucks are way ahead of the 2019 Bucks. Think its fair to expect even more growth from Giannis' game than Jordan or LeBron from age 26 on.

Also, on this thread, some referred to Paul moving on the Lakers to chase a ring. IMO, the Suns with Ayton and Booker (and Bridges and others) have a better chance to get back to the NBA finals than the Lakers. LeBron turns 37 during next season, and the AD's injury issues aren't going away. PHX will need to add another piece, but AZ is an attractive destination, and Monty Williams is a beloved coach. Everyone still seems to be in love with the Nets, but their injury issues weren't a fluke. No reason to count on that team being healthy for the 2022 playoffs, and Nash is still a huge ? as a coach.

Think both the Suns and the Bucks are positioned as well as any other teams in the NBA to return the finals next year.

I'd like to see him stay in Phoenix. And I agree about Monty Williams. But I disagree about the Nets. I get they're older, but if they have their big 3 next playoffs, I agree with Vegas that they should be the favorites. Durant took the Bucks to 7 basically by himself.

We shall see, but Kyrie is only going to get crazier, and Harden flabbier. Durant is an unstoppable force, but have no faith in the Nets being able to hold it together for a grueling playoff run.

Regardless of how it plays out (unless/until the Nets or Lakers get the trophy), I’m already looking forward to next year. Assuming everyone comes back from injury and has their normal rest - apart from the Olympics participants - it’s going to be wide-open.

Predictions on what CP3 does? I predict he stays. I think he’s finally found a stable team to grow with and lead and wants to run it back.

Warriors will be a wild card given that Klay is returning from a two year absence. Golden State has the #7 pick, the #14 pick in the upcoming draft and Wiseman on a rookie deal. If they want to push all of their chips to the middle of the table for a run next year, GS has the capital to trade for another ready piece.

The Warriors are in a similar place as the Nets this year depending on late prime guys coming off injuries.

I think I posted some Warriors trade ideas last week or so. I’ll see if I can find them. The wildcard with the Warriors is that they are the one place I could see Kawhi choosing over staying in LA. I think they could afford him if they package Wiggins with the #7 pick to clear cap room. Then they could take Kispert at #14 who should be a dependable bench guy and fill in for Klay.

A healthy LAL is way more equipped to guard Giannis than most teams in the league. It would’ve been closer than the Suns series but I still give the edge to LA.

LOL

Who could guard him on the Lakers? You can't put LeBron on him. AD can't stay in front of him (which is partially what makes Ayton such a unicorn defensively - that dude has elite lateral quickness for a big). Kuz? lol. KCP? LOL. Trez probably couldn't guard a beach chair. Bald Mamba was probably the best team defender outside of AD and Bron, and dude gives up like 7 inches to Giannis.

AD is an elite defender and could at least make it difficult on Giannis with his length. Giannis would still bully him on the block but AD and Lebron are going to get calls against him that Crowder and Ayton aren’t.

Also Phoenix didn’t put any pressure on him defensively, especially last night.

Yeah, I don't like hearing about his postseason failures as if it's his fault.

This is where I'm at, too. It especially annoys me when I hear it from Wake fans who, at least in theory, watch the NBA.

CP got a pretty bad Hornets team to the conference semis in an absurdly talented Western Conference. He resurrected Tyson Chandler and David West's careers and made them look really damn good in the process. Those teams were garbage on paper, though. The year CP took the Hornets to the conference semis, the rotation included: twilight Bonzi Wells and Bobby Jackson, Rasual Butler, Ryan Bowen, Melvin Ely, and Hilton Armstrong.

In LA, CP got Doc'd. I know there are some Doc stans on here, but Doc Rivers is the most overrated coach I think I have ever had the displeasure of having to watch for almost a decade. He's up there with [Redacted] and Manning for me. Those teams went as far as CP willed them, but man the best wing that that team had during CP's time there was end-of-career Matt Barnes. Doc couldn't find a single guy with size who could put the ball in the basket. Not in free agency, not in the draft. Was just a complete fucking disaster. Anybody who watched Doc ruin another elite roster in Philly can sympathize by how fucking miserable it is to watch Doc teams blow it in the postseason. Clippers had two of the most epic collapses I've ever seen. And then, let's talk about talent. I don't know if y'all have watched Blake or DAJ play post CP, but it's pretty obvious that those guys owe CP a lot of credit for their careers. Neither has looked remotely good on their own, let alone All-Star caliber.

In Houston, injuries finally caught up to the dude and the OKC turnaround was one of the most impressive I've witnessed since I started watching the NBA (until I watched what CP helped accomplish in Phoenix this year).

okay you're trolling

good to know lol

Good post, Strick. Harden is the only teammate CP has had who is at his level. That's it. Two season in a long career. Booker and Ayton could get their eventually, but they're not there now. It's a PG heavy league, but it's hard for a PG to win as easily best player on his team.

to be fair - i thought CP had given up any hope of getting a ring when he joined the suns

so this season was pretty awesome for him if you take a step back

hope he finds a ring eventually

Booker is better than Paul right now. He had a bad
series against Milwaukee and still outplayed Paul.

Griffin was absolutely at Paul’s level in LA. A lot of that was due to Paul but this rewriting of history from Wake fans is predictable but still hilarious.

You guys act like he was dragging the 06 Cavs to the playoffs every year.

Feeling like cp3 banged jmans lady back in the day.

LOL, just trying to stomp out the rampant homerism here. Duncan is an all time great. Paul is a top 100 player of all-time. Nothing to hang your head about.

It would be pretty cool if the #1 PF (Duncan) and #2 PG (Paul) of all time went to Wake

Nobody argues with Duncan, I think CP would have solidified #2 behind Magic with a championship and FMVP

With no championships if you say CP is #2 you get laughed out of the room, well maybe not on the Wake board, I have him #3 behind Isiah
