MBB Game 15: FSU @ LJVM: Tuesday 7 pm RSN - Bally Sports

The rebounding today was insane. Every single rotation player had 5+ boards. Walton was the one with 5.

All I'm going to say is that I hope Taylor or McCray step up or we are going to be hurting at guard next year.

Forbes will work the transfer portal, probably for a veteran PG, a scoring athletic wing, and a big or two.

Monsanto is your scoring athletic wing I would think. Need PG for sure and a big guy. Also when your opponent shoots 24 % there is an opportunity for alot of rebounds. We did play good defense and boxed out well.

We missed 30 shots and had 11 offensive rebounds (37%)

FSU missed 47 shots and had 7 offensive rebounds (15%)

We crushed them on the boards

Sy was awesome. Player of the game along with LaRavia. Williams was great too. Whitt and Hildreth a combined 1-11. Williamson was missed but fortunately we did not need him.
Whitt is incapable of getting a shot off without it getting blocked. Guy just doesn't look strong enough, fast enough, or athletic enough to compete at the ACC level. Maybe time will change that, but put me in the pessimistic camp. Happy to eat my words in a year.

Maybe. I think there’s room for another guy even if McCray or Taylor earn more minutes.

We will have Carter back for his mostly 3rd year, Monsanto as a stud wing and Zach Keller going off will be a nice 4.
Dang glad we had Carter to fill those minutes tonight even though he was 0/5 with 6 rebs but only 2 TOS against a steal happy squad.

agree with all this. Looking forward to seeing Monsanto. Wake BBall is back.

I honestly don’t get the criticism of Whitt from tonight‘s game. Stepped in for Williamson and did a great job running the team. FSU has their usual collection of long, athletic players and they apply full court pressure for most of the game. Whitt handled that with only two turnovers and made some really nice passes. His offense definitely needs work, but I thought he stepped up and gave us exactly what we needed tonight.

Carter obviously has limitations - he's really a freshman and it shows. But I do think folks are missing the fact that his role is absolutely not to be a scorer on this team. Forbes is an "understand your role" coach. Alondes driving the bucket, LaRavia in space, Mucius with open jumpers, Walton in the paint. Carter was the only starter with a steal, had more boards than our center, and had 2 turnovers on the night. Defense is quietly much better than last year.

Stick him on a shitty team and start him at point guard, ask him to score - he could be putting up mediocre numbers. I think we're not used to watching pretty good freshmen play on a team that's actually good and isn't asking them to come in and light it up.

Whitt caused maybe 2-3 deflections and got at least one outright steal.

Also at least three times was in the middle of a scrum for a defensive rebound and tapped the ball out to a teammate.

GGTT returns.

Deacons hold FSU to 24%/16%/80% shooting and outrebound the Seminoles 53-30 to power to a 76-54 win. Deacs dominate points in the paint (38-18) and second chance points (12-5) as well. Tough, gritty high energy defense for 40 minutes.

Ball movement was consistent on offense. 15 assists for 25 field goals. Deacs shot well from two and at the line.

Williams and Laravia provided leadership and production. Khadim Sy was huge off the bench. Provided the offensive spark that got the Deacs rolling in the first half and finished with 16/10 for his first career double-double.

FSU is the tallest team in the nation. Wake's big line up looked them in the eye and took over in the first half. 7'-6'10'-6'8"-6'8" and 6'5". Four seniors and a junior playing together well as a unit. Legit.

The play-by-play guy had me so worked up in the second half, I was ready for "..... OFF THE TOP ROPE.... YES!"

Would like to see us go to the bounce entry pass a little more. Rifling the ball works well against most teams, but long athletic teams tend to get their hand on the ball more. Plus, supper fastballs are sometimes hard for your teammate to handle. A few more Dave Odom bounce passes will improve this team's efficiency.

This.

Cam was 1-7, so should we jump on him as well? Our two freshmen guards were 1-11, 11 rb 5 asst and 2 to.
