Phew. I was like- when did he flip like this?!

Like Childress?
I meant for a lot of Black football player graduates who could certainly benefit from a tenth of the hookups that Elrod appears to have gotten. I actually genuinely agree that these Wake alum coaching job for life hookups have largely been a disaster, but I know a lot of very capable guys who would have loved the opportunity to get the kind of job Elrod was handed post coaching.
Warren Belin (WFU 1991), assistant coach, linebackers, under Grobe was the "continuity coach" on Clawson's staff, continuing in that spot for three more years. (Until SEC/UGA money lured him away.)
So, there were two Wake alums on Grobe's staff. One continued his coaching position under Clawson. The other was given a radio gig by Wake.
Wake has starteda number of football players on their coaching careers. Josh Gattis, current U of Miami Offensive Coordinator, is most prominent.
Wendell Dunn is currently on Wake football staff as Director of Plater Development.

I applaud Wake for trying. I wish they had the same energy for a lot of the Black student athletes.
Wake did not start Gattis’ coaching career. His first coaching position was at (ugh) UNC
Sometimes help is a phone call that gets an "out placement. That is supposed to be part of the benefits of conference ties.
Curry didn't start at Wake, but at Charlotte, under then head coach Brad Lambert, who had been a Wake assistant and is once more.
You don't always hire somebody to gt them a start in life. Sometimes you make a phone call that gets the person a job elsewhere.
But not in retrospect, it’s not a good idea to carve out very competitive jobs for inexperienced sports alums just because they want them. It’s telling that Wake spent so many years and $$$ starting Elrod, Rusty, and Childress’ coaching careers and none of them stayed in coaching after Wake.
Rusty is still a coach.

Yeah, like mako.
Where's Donnie Greensboro? He got caught lying (again) and disappeared. I, for one, am stunned!
When the campaign for Cory Randolph to join the broadcast crew starts, I’m 100% on board.
did not realize that Randolph had a Wake law degree too
