Wake @ Duke - 3:30 PM ESPN2/ACCN

Parking is no problem. It's the pack a lunch hike to get to the stadium from wherever you park that's the problem.

What!? I'm shocked, I tell you shocked that an on campus stadium doesn't have loads of convenient parking. I thought DR guaranteed the existence of an on campus meant great parking. It doesn't? I'm shocked! [/sarcasm]

Duke v. Pitt game was bizarre. 28-26 final.

Pitt threw two picks and had a punt blocked. Pitt also kept a Duke drive alive by roughing the punter, leading to a TD. Pitt scored a TD on a fumble return.

With 3 minutes left in the game, and Duke down 28-20, Pitt had a 4th and 3 on the Pitt 44. Pitt elected to punt, but the snap was botched and Duke got the ball on the Pitt 30 needing a TD and 2 point conversion to tie (of course, Duke went for two earlier in the game, which failed and cost them). On 4th and 19, Riley Leonard completed a pass for a Duke TD to make the game 28-26. Duke ran the Philly Special from the Eagles v. Pats Super Bowl, but failed to convert.

Duke ran the no huddle all game, but still ran only 72 plays. They averaged 4.9 per play, which is not very good. Duke could not run the ball 2.3 ypc. Riley Leonhard threw for 290 yards and 3 TDs and 0 Picks, but only average 6.1 ypa.

Duke has played the easiest possible ACC schedule as they played all Coastal Division opponents and BC -- the worst team in the Atlantic. That said, Duke is 7-4 (4-3), and they have beaten or come within 3 of every ACC opponent (lost to Pitt 28-26, lost to UNC 38-35 and lost to GT 23-20 in OT). Kind of hard to believe, but if the reffs had not robbed Duke of the win over UNC, Duke would be playing on Saturday to get into the ACCCG.

In ACC games only, on offense, Duke is 8th in yards per play with 5.4 (WF is 4th with 5.6). On defense, Duke is 8th in ypp with 5.5. WF is DFL with 6.1.

FWIW, FSU is #1 in the ACC in yards per play on offense (6.9) and yards per play on defense (4.6). FSU is very good. WF's win in Tallahassee was a great win.

Hard to see any scenario where the WF/Duke is anything other than close (absent a ton of TOs either way). Would lean to Duke ATS.

I am expecting Elko to have the best answer for our offense of any coach this season. I just don't know if they have the personnel to do what Louisville and Liberty did.

Agree this will be a close game, but we have the better QB and the better skill players. We should win.

Others have said the same about Elko and the WF offense. Don't agree. Elko coached for WF six seasons ago. The scheme and personnel have changed massively. The one time Elko coached against WF was in 2017 when he was the DC at ND. Elko had no answers for the WF offense that day as WF scored 37 points, throwing for 348 yards and rushing for another 239 yards (587 yards of offense), and that was when Elko was much more familiar with WF's personnel.

I foresee this game being about 58-56 final score. Neither team appear to have the personnel to stop the other. I hope I'm proven wrong and we shut them down but I just don't see it.

If there is one constant in the past 50 years of Wake Forest football that has transcended every coach and decade, it is that we invariably play to the level of our opponent. I'll never understand it but it is what it is.

Hartman has 3,074 pass yards and 85 rushing yards on the season for 3,163 total yards, 33 TD's accounted for, 13 turnovers

Leonard has 2,403 pass yards and 621 rushing yards on the season for 3,024 total yards, 27 TD's accounted for, 5 turnovers

Duke will be fired up and they can and will move the ball and score. I hope Sam and the receivers are ready to go (I wouldn't mind seeing the run game show up)

That WF-ND game in 2017 was 34-10 ND with 4:00 to go in the 3rd quarter.

WF had 289 yards of offense in the first 40 minutes, 298 yards of offense in the last 20 minutes as ND was preparing to go to #7 Miami (the last regular-season game ND has lost to an ACC school)

is Duke's starting RB hurt?
Jaquez Moore, who splits carries, but leads Duke ypc, was hurt against BC and didn't play against Pitt; he may return on Saturday, but Elko has been coy. Nicky Dalmolin, a starting TE is out. One of their starting OL Jacob Monk and another RB Terry Moore are day to day.

Who is the GT DC?!

Hire that guy, Clawson!

Anyone who can hold All-World, Heisman shoo-in, and Best ACC player ever to 17 points on their home field with a bunch of 3+Star recruits, deserves some love.

Last 3 vs duke
45-7
39-27
59-7

I like Wake to win and wouldn’t be surprised if we have our best game of the year score wise.

The ND announcers were in awe of Wolford and the WF offense that day (they had an extremely good defense that season)

That's all well and good but David Cutcliffe's offensive and defensive staff ain't walking through that door on Saturday

How hilarious would it be if Vandy upset TN this weekend? Hard to think of a team in recent history that saw its fortunes change quicker than Tennessee against the Gamecocks.

A week later, Hooker done. CFP dreams dashed. Vandy on a roll. Vandy winning seemed beyond impossible a couple of weeks ago. Suddenly possible. BTW, if Vandy pulls the upset, the Dores are bowl eligible. Their season win total was 2.5 at the start of the season.

If Clawson left WF, Clark Lea would be on my list of coaches to contact.

My daughter is a freshman at South Carolina, so I've followed their football program closer than any not named Wake Forest this year and going into Saturday I would said it was beyond impossible to for SC to beat Tennessee and I wouldn't have bet SC could have scored 63 points if they had 12 quarters to do it based on what I had seen this season. College football is nuts!

We've had all week to come up with a (new) plan regarding kickoffs, kicking and punting.

Duke leads the nation in punt returning (?). So, angle punt like crazy, never punt down the middle of the field, and we should be ok.

Go ahead and kickoff like a normal team and make tackles inside the 35 yard line. I mean, it can't get worse than last week.

It may be a little wet, but 60 degrees and clearing by kickoff, so our offensive line just needs to be ready to play ball.

Maybe let an OL give the pre-game speech.

I think what hurts our kickoff coverage the most is when we do kick it deep, Mora and now Murphy have a lower trajectory, while a lot of other kickoff guys I've seen have a much higher trajectory. It's like a punt, you need some hang time to allow your coverage team time to get down there.
