Wake @ Duke - 3:30 PM ESPN2/ACCN

loss felt pretty inevitable once we slowed it down after the interception

knew we weren’t likely to pick up the first and knew we weren’t likely to stop them

Couple thoughts here:

1) Last year and particularly this year, this team is smoke and mirrors in terms of how we start the seasons. We play crap opponents and win and climb the rankings and everyone gets worked up about how good we are, myself included. But we've actually accomplished nothing and beaten nobody. So it looks like an epic collapse when we lose games against reasonable competition. But kudos to the staff to force people to talk about Wake for at least part of the season.

2) What is the biggest win of Clawson's tenure (or Sam's for that matter)? I think it is probably State last year. After that, maybe FSU this year? Then maybe UNC 4 years ago or @State with Newman?

38 probably would have done it (if we scored them with 5 seconds or less) but this was pretty good
Wish I was wrong but I had a badddd feeling about this one after the defense allowed Syracuse with a gimpy QB and struggling offense to light up the scoreboard last week.

I honestly can’t recall any come-from-behind, last minute, game winning drives from Hartman in his career. Surely there had to be one somewhere along the way? I know he had lots of opportunities this season to continually come up empty.

I’ve suffered too many 2 and 3 win seasons than to complain about a few things derailing us to a 7 win season. And I don’t give a shit if it’s LOWF or not but we are literally the smallest Power 5 team with strict academic standards. I know all the reasons we should be good and shouldn’t accept anything less but I’m happy not being Georgia Tech or Boston College or whoever. The reality is that we are exceeding expectations given our situation

One winning ACC season in 9 years. Grobe had 3. Dooley has 2.

we held them to 10 points in 6 possessions from 2 minutes in 2nd to 5 mins in 4th. that should be enough to win.

Maybe Tulane in his very first start?

Louisville drive to seal the game.

The most clutch play that comes to mind is the AT TD catch to beat Cuse in OT last season. But that's very different than a come-from-behind, last minute, game-winning drive.

R u freaking crazy?

It is pretty obvious the program has plateaued. I was discussing with friends a couple of weeks ago whether it was 1) whether Clawson has reached his ceiling, or 2) whether Wake Football in general has reached its ceiling?

I totally disagree with this statement. This team CHANGED mid-season. I don't know if it is/was girlfriend problems, morale in the ranks, jealousy or what. But SOMETHING changed.

This team took the #4 team in the country to double OT and our QB threw for 6 TD passes and the very next week went to Tallahassee and routinely handled a 9-3 FSU team.

I get the gist of what you're saying but I want to know WHY this team did a 180 mid-season. It was more than obvious!! This was a 6-1 #10 team in the frigging country and totally SHIT THE BED the last 5 weeks. Something happened.

Coaches get a C- for this season and our in-game decisions were just God-awful in many, many situations. EVERY DAMN coach better take a good look in the mirror, starting with Clawson.

we have sucked offensively when we can’t/don’t run our offense normally (rpo with tempo)

don’t have beyond anecdotal data to support this but will try to do the numbers this week

yea and that was a helluva highlight, too

look, i'm sad too guys but let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater

I have another theory. No inside info, just going with human nature.

Don't you think our guys get bored with practice? If all we ever run is the mesh, the whole time you've been a player....3,4, even 5 years, can you really get up for practice?

Just a thought....
