MBB Game Game 10: LSU Tigers in Atlanta - 2pm Saturday ESPNU

Two times during the game we did not block out on a free throw, and LSU rebounded their own free throw and put it back in.

He's an incredibly fluid athlete for his size and when he turns off his brain and just plays, he does some really interesting things for his size. He's actually a lot like Zach in that way. Once those guys' games catch up to their abilities (and they learn how to let the game come to them more), then I think we've got two special players.
Don't get this take. He's unable to stay in front of anybody who dribbles the ball. He was abused by whoever he was guarding on SC State. He's awful on defense, always trying to take bad charges in help defense. His shot is so far off it looks like he practices on 20 foot rims.

The last 60 secs were amateur hour on pretty much every level

The injuries to Williamson and Ituka seem the major problem to the team. They were expected to provide points, ball handling, defense and leadership. Everyone else has been asked to do more than anticipated in their absence. Most have been unable to meet that challenge. Klintman and Keller are averaging a combined 36 mpg. That was not a preseason formula for success.

Success in college basketball is very simple, you make the tournament or you don’t. At this point in year 3 of Forbes and in a weak ACC we are not likely to make the dance. I don’t count play in games as making the tournament so that means we have been on the outside looking in for now 12 years?

Did anyone else have trouble sleeping after blowing a 20 pt 1st half lead?! :(
I appreciate your level of dedication. After the last decade plus of bad basketball, my give-a-shit meter is very, very low. Mix in this new NIL and immediate transfer stuff, and I just can't get into the teams/players. My interest in college basketball is close to an all time low..sadly. I went to every home game (and some road games) while I was at Wake..And I really like Forbes. But, I just can't muster interest

We played a 10-man rotation yesterday and lost on the final possession because we had Cam Hildreth guarding their primary ball handler. In his 38th minute of game action, he was a half-step slow. Ty, in his 37th minute of game action, was a half-step slow cutting off the drive, so they get an uncontested layup.

Love Cam, and he has improved, but if we are expecting him to log that many minutes and be the defensive stopper at crunch time, we aren’t going to love the results of this season.

Same. I remember in the 90s I could have told you the starting 5 for each Big 4 team. And we all loved to hate guys for 3-4 years. Especially at Duke.

Now? I couldn't tell you a single starter outside of Wake. It's rent-a-team A versus rent-a-team B.

Appleby has played 37, 35, and 40 minutes the last 3 games. On the one hand that’s a clear testament to how great he’s been and the excellent job by the staff in snagging him via the transfer portal, but I can’t help but be a little disappointed that we’re continually having to rely on upperclass transfers to essentially carry the team without much to show for it (at least not as far as postseason play).

I love Forbes, and I still can’t really believe we were able to hire him when we did, but the high school recruiting simply has to improve if this program is ever going to turn the cover.

I agree strongly.

However we must also be honest with ourselves that the problem isn’t a basketball coach. We have failed for 25 years. This failure since 1998 has include 6 different head Coaches.

The problem isn’t the hard working, affable Steve Forbes. The problem is us.

To win and give good Coaches like Forbes a chance, we need more money for hoops.

We need NIL money only for hoops. We need to build the proper home venue.

We have failed for a quarter century because we as alums choose to fail at mens basketball by not making it our #1 priority.

You are failing the hardest though because you are donating to the competition and giving basically nothing to Wake.
