2023 Football Scholly Tracker | In: Roberts (A&T LB), Ganious (Nova DT), Merrill (Vols WR)

Stats against Bucknell shouldn’t count. Penn state stats look good though. DLinemen shouldn’t have numbers in the 50s.
I'd love D linemen with total of sacks, QB hurries and tackles for loss numbered somewhere in the 50s.

Agree that LB room looks solid with this addition.

Need to bring in 2 DTs and 2 CBs now.
Remains to be seen. It was a weakness last year and arguably the best, most experienced at least, LB departed. This looks like a quality addition, but the others remain works in progress. I like the pickup. We need to keep improving there.

Was it the weakness? Would think the secondary was our weakness. Thought Smenda and Chase Jones played well. Glenn Spencer is a good coach. Bryant and Hudson gave good reps and
Eldrick Robinson was coming along until injury. I think we are going to be okay at LB.

I said ”a” weakness. Secondary was worse I agree. LBs seemed a step slow.

CBS entered the draft. Didn’t realize he still had another year of eligibility. Would’ve been funny to bring him back.

He didn't have another year. A lot of these guys make draft declarations whether they've got eligibility or not and it confuses the hell out of me, too. I'm going to refer to them as Alondes announcements because he's the first one I think of every time, haha.

Ahhhh ok. The article I read was mistaken then because they said he was foregoing his final year of eligibility. He must have confused them too!

In 22 and 22 Wake benefitted from most of the guys with Covid years sticking around and playing that extra year at Wake. For 23, it is looking like relatively more of those guys are leaving and seeing other parts of the world. Quite probably they are being given nice travel stipends by boosters of their new schools. Good for them to get paid well. Wake NIL funding appears to be small at this time. So it has to be used judiciously.

Just keep hitting the FCS hard. There is a ton of talent to be found that goes overlooked, and it won’t take NIL to get them to come to Wake. Moving up to “fbs” is their first step. Then if they leave Wake later for big NIL so be it. It means they earned it and Wake surely benefited from their growth and contribution.
