2023 Football Scholly Tracker | In: Roberts (A&T LB), Ganious (Nova DT), Merrill (Vols WR)

agreed. Sports comes to an end for nearly all of us at some point. For some, it's youth sports. For others, it's high school. And for a lucky few it's college. But, that Harvard education/contacts going to carry you a lot further than a communications degree from a third rate directional school in Kentucky.
Depends on what he wants to do. He's from Pikeville, which is a God-forsaken town built into the side of a mountain where you can barely see the sun sometimes. He may have gotten to Wake and decided that he has no desire for the sun, high level academics, or the jobs that flow from them.

He can play some ball and make good grades and probably get into law school at a good school. Or he can make bad grades and get into a law school. Appalachian School of Law, Elon, High Point, Charleston…

Did anyone mention Jackson Hensley to Eastern Kentucky? Former walk on WR who decommitted from Harvard to play at Wake is now a WR at Eastern Kentucky.
Ugh. He went from a potential Harvard degree to Western Kentucky?

Maybe Hensley bet on himself and thought he'd have a scholarship at WF by now, and his parents can no longer handle the $80,000 annual cost. Does not appear to impact the team much either way.

The guy was on the two deep ahead of a bunch of guy's on scholarship. If Clawson wasn't going to offer him a scholarship this off-season, then I can understand why he left. I just wish the transfer had worked out better for him.

Believe Gainous has three years of eligibility left. He's listed at 6-2 280.

This what his Villanova bio said about Gainous heading into this season and summarizing his true freshman season:

Villanova: Has the potential to be a dominant defensive tackle … Possesses a good combination of speed, size and strength … Will be looked upon to be a playmaker for the Villanova defense.

2021: Played in all 13 games and tallied 22 tackles, including 4.5 tackles for loss and three sacks … Forced two fumbles; Lehigh (9/4): Registered two total tackles in his collegiate debut; Bucknell (9/11): Credited with two tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a sack in the Wildcats home opener; Richmond (9/18): Made one solo tackle; Penn State (9/25): Recorded two tackles, including a tackle for loss and a sack; James Madison (10/9): Had one solo tackle and one assisted stop; Rhode Island (10/23): Posted two solo tackles and a forced fumble; William & Mary (10/30): Had one assisted stop; Elon (11/6): Tallied one solo tackle, a sack for a loss, in a 35-0 road victory; Stony Brook (11/13): Registered two tackles, one tackle for loss and a forced fumble; Holy Cros (12/3): Credited with three assisted tackles in the first round of the FCS playoffs; South Dakota State (12/11): Made four assisted tackles in an FCS quarterfinal game

Looks like two years left, profile not updated. Same conference as Kobie Turner (CAA), but not nearly the accolades. Seems more likely to be a (needed) depth piece at DT.

I welcome him but it sure would be nice to start getting linemen, ol and dl, that were not undersized compared to a lot of our opposition.

Stats against Bucknell shouldn’t count. Penn state stats look good though. DLinemen shouldn’t have numbers in the 50s.
