MBB Game 27: Miami Hurricanes in Coral Gables - The Watsco Center - Saturday - 2pm - Ballys

Didn’t get to see it, the result was exactly what I was expecting.

Are we sure beating State is enough, assuming we win the 3 after that + ACCT one game?

Not in my opinion. We would at least need to win out to Friday of the ACCT, and I wouldn't feel confident unless we won that semifinal game as well

Larranaga is such a great coach. You could see that he corrected what he didn't like at half.

They baited us into most of those TO's and we took the bait almost every time.

It reminded me of playing touch football. "Go ahead, throw it to him. I'm not really covering him."

Oh well, this team was going nowhere anyway.

now you are being stupid. You tout that the computer was pretty close to predicting the result but then concede a 1 in 10k event. whatever. I get that he is our best option at point guard but he was not today. We had no chance because of his turnovers. A coach gets paid to make adjustments to give the team a chance to win the game being played. If that means benching your best player after 6-7 turnovers, so be it.
I was responding to the part about "why play the game at all."

And I'm not saying adjustments can't be made, I'm pointing out to you why Appleby was never going to get benched and that it's a weird thing to harp on

It's not enough. We're not going to the NCAAs this year barring an ACC tourney title.

I think it might be.
If we only win @ State and lose in the ACCT QFs then we are a team with 2ish quad 1 wins and bad metrics. We wouldn't have anything to hang our hat on -- you gotta give the committee some reason to put you in.

And the bubble will only become more compressed as bids get stolen and others pick up Q1 wins themselves

Sure. But I’m also expecting at least one of Wisconsin and Duke to rise back into Q1. Wisconsin will likely be in tomorrow (passing us).

The good news is that there aren't many bids to steal this year. There are hardly any low/mid-major AQs for a bid to be taken from

Could easily come from a surprise winner of a P6 conference, several of those in recent years. Then if an FAU (who I think will get in) gets picked off in their conf tourney there's another one -- every one matters when you're just trying to eek in

Will be there Wednesday as well. We can beat State.
I’m coming with a few colleagues. We’ll probably go in a bit early for beers given that there is nowhere around there to easily have a beer/dinner. If boards folks want to meet for concourse beers pregame, lmk!

For those who aren’t following baseball, you may find it humorous that after the debacle trying to get the bball feed, we are now stuck on “your event is about to begin.” The game started at 4 and has clearly begun because the radio and Gametracker are chugging right along.

Forbes said postgame that the 34 pts off turnovers stat was inaccurate…said it was only maybe 17…?
