CT Vermont, Threeve: I wish I could figure it out but the world's upside down

Had my thirty minute torture session with the dental hygienist this morning. I feel like I need a beer.
 
Took my son to get blood work so he can go to preschool in the fall

Phlebotomist seems like a real shit job
 
had an experience at a physician's office where the nurse/PA was very timid on drawing my blood -- missing on the first attempt -- so I just said "i'll come a different day" and went to a phlebotomist downtown and they stuck me like they didn't give a fuck, which is how you need to do it imo
 
To be clear they did an awesome job with my kid today. Tiny veins and scared but they were total pros. We had a lot tougher time when he was 1 and screaming the whole time.
 
My 5yo had 5 cavities, so… uhh that sucks. Plus we picked the lower tier dental insurance this year that doesn’t cover Jack shit, so that’s like $1500 OOP
 
Well we found it in our dogs mouth, so I’m a bit skeptical the parents would have saved the day.

We had something similar happen last year minus the dog part. The baby bird had to be the runt of the litter based on the other baby birds I could see in the nest (paging @birdman in case this isn't a thing). It was pretty fucked up from falling out of its nest and was clearly in a lot of pain. It sucked, but I'm glad I stumbled upon him when I did because I put him out of misery quickly and buried him in the yard.
 
My 3 year old waking up from anesthesia inconsolable and bleeding was one of the worst experiences of my life.
 
Avoided hand foot and mouth disease from the 3 yo niece last weekend, but now my mom, sister, and 4 month old nephew all tested posi for Covid yesterday. I was in a car for 12+ hours total over the weekend with my mom, and holding the nephew a lot (also vigorously washing my hands constantly), and have tested neg like four times in the last two days. Am I superhuman? Bad tests?

Probably just going to go back to being a recluse/hermit.

It's very possible you won't test positive for COVID. When my fiance got it I started staying home in case I had it and at that point we didn't distance at all during our quarantine because if I was going to get it I figured I already had it at that point. Tested everyday and I never popped positive. Same thing happened to us when I eventually got it 6 months later, but in reverse.

Yeah, they have runts. Honestly being a songbird baby bird sounds pretty brutal. Parents lay and hatch eggs asynchronously, so that the last to hatch is a few days behind the first energetically and developmentally. That makes the parents job a little easier because the smaller/younger they are the less hungry and demanding they are...but that means they are ready to leave the nest at different times. Often if mom and dad get the first two or three out of the nest they will leave the last one or two there to starve...so the last one tries to leave the nest but is definitely not ready. It is tough to be the last egg to hatch.
