Saudi World Golf Tour 2022/2023 Thread

Got to play the course a couple years back wining a raffle at a local bank's open house, wish I remembered more of it. My company redesigned the clubhouse a few years ago and was hoping that'd result in a connection to get on more often but nope, we're just the help.
It's really dope that you even got to play it once since LACC is Augusta, Pine Valley level exclusive. Maybe closer to Pine Valley since the public at least has a shot at getting onto the grounds at Augusta.

Rough start for the Peacock coverage...

On the plus side, there's actually some 4k coverage this week. Hopefully that means some of the online feeds will be 4k'ish.

Brennan just teed off and hit it in the left bunker on 1, but they also showed his up and down to qualify. Nice!

Brennan with an incredible chip in - will probably be in every highlight package today!

I've had it on a tablet in my office while I work and I swore my eyesight was going bad for the first 10+ minutes. So blurry...

Yeah at the start the coverage was flipping accidentally from the intro to random camera feeds on empty holes. Sound started going in and out... Then they shut down coverage for a bit, maybe they got it figured out. Seems better now.

Somebody's going to put up a score today - greens are receiving spin, 1 and 10 are set up pretty easy, some of the par 3's are shortened. But in a couple days...

Hope someone is getting a picture of the US Open Leaderboard with Brennan tied for the lead.

Oh dang I didn’t realize this was on Peacock. Good looking out DCDeac. I’m working from home this morning and just fired it up.

Really haven't missed the Bryson worship. He just hit a pull cut drive that was about 8 yards behind his playing partner, announcer gushes about how incredible it was that he hit it so far and how he has a huge advantage over everyone else in the field. So annoying.

It was pretty funny at the Winged Foot US Open when they completely ignored that Matt Wolff was often longer than Bryson.

I honestly didn't realize it was that exclusive. When talking with the member at the time (pre-COVID) he was indicating that there were more sellers than buyers, and the membership was south of six figures, both of which surprised me. Things may have changed significantly since COVID.

It's probably changed in the past few decades, but from what I understand it was kind of a "the club isn't the most expensive one you can join, but the money isn't enough to get you in" deal. Historically they wanted nothing to do with new money and especially disliked anyone in the entertainment industry. This is besides the standard you need to be a man, and protestant, and white, and when they say white they mean the Mayflower kind of white.

There is a story about Hugh Hefner building his bird sanctuary in retaliation for not being offered membership so there would be a ton of exotic birds constantly squawking off one of the holes.

yeah, I would imagine the exclusivity tag comes from it being an entertainment town and the entertainment folks couldn't get in. Makes sense that I got in through a banker.

Coolest part to me was that the member was smoking a cigar and had this like metal cigar holder that I can't remember if he would carry around or even his caddy would carry and place around the course for him. Can't say I've seen that anywhere else in my life.

I played it many years ago and I remember the Spelling Mansion (fairly new at the time) was on the course as was yes the Playboy Mansion and I think Janet Jackson's house was also along that same hole.
